Building of Greensborough Plaza was done in the late 1970's and opened in 1978. It occupied land previously used largely for residential and grazing purposes. Stubley's Furniture Store late 1950s. The Stubley Group began in 1946 when Purcell Stubley purchased a site with petrol bowsers in Main Street from 'Snowy' Jessop. In 1948 Purcell began building the new Stubley Motors, working round the old site to keep the business operating. It was completed in 1951. The Group expanded into other areas such as this Furniture store. [Syd Thompson Fruit Shop was here in early 1950s, Syd lived in the house at back. He coached Boxing]. This became the Welkay Store in the 1960's and owned by Walter Kenyon. The Welkay store moved opposite to 100 Main Road on 6/9/1966, ref: Diamond Valley News Page 9. Parke-Davis was founded in Detroit, Michigan by Dr. Samuel P. Duffield, a physician and pharmacist. A partnership of Dr. Duffield and Hervey Coke Parke was formed in 1866, with George S. A group of 4 photographs taken in 1994 and an early photograph of the same building for comparison.Happy Hollow farm was located on the Plenty River about 4 km upstream for the Greensborough township. It was originally built in the late 1840's and was rented by the Whatmough family at one time. It is now lost as it was taken over by Parks Victoria, left derelict and burnt down by vandals in the early 2000's.A group of photocopied photographs on A4 size paper. Guests on verandah of Bellfield Hotel. Marshall White bought a licenced building from Armstrong (between Great Western & Ararat), moved it to the site of their house and, in 1924 opened it as an hotel. It remained a very popular hotel under many owners until completely gutted by fire in 1967. Currently (2011) the Grampians Motel stands on almost exactly the same site. By the clothing worn by the guest in the photo this was probably taken in the 1930's.Guest on verandah of of a long building. Men have started to form the Mt Victory Road. Until the 1900's access to the Stoney Creek gorge was via a winding bridal jinker track. Increased traffic lead to much of this route being widened into what became known as Bluff Road. This is the Warren Street residence of the owners of the bakery, which was situated behind this building. The owners were John and Florence Warren who ran the bakery until the 1960's when it was taken over by their daughter Ida and son-in-law Robert Greer. Ladies' Committees were formed to sell art and crafts during shows, and much of the revenue from these events went towards a future new building. In 1938, the Wildflower Show was to be held on 30 September and 1 October, and was to be opened by A. McDonald, Esq., MLA. Admission in that year was 1/- (one shilling), with children being half price (a comparison with record 388 shows that this was the same as the 1933 price). Afternoon tea or supper were also 1/- and an entry fee of 3d (three pennies) was charged per exhibit. In that year the organising secretary was H. This house belonged to Walter Zumstein of the Zumsteins area. The house was burnt down in 1938.
