Images were taken by a staff member of the Returned Sailors and Soldiers Mill in Newtown, a MR. Norm Holroyd. The photos were taken between the 1960s-1970s. They were developed in his own private dark room and kept at his home for private viewing. Upon his death, the album went to his daughter, Judie Holroyd, who has donated them to the National Wool Museum.A collection of 38 black and white images, each individually mounted on cardboard backing, showing scenes of various stages of fabric production at the Returned Sailors and Soldiers Mill in Newtown. Each individual image page has 4 holes on the left side so it can be stored in a folder. Folder is not included in the donation.Numberswoolen mill wool production loom -

Small dark red leather-bound folder/binder/booklet. Front cover has a gold circular stamp in the upper centre of cover. Folder contains brief information about the Albion Mills in Geelong, several images of sheep and a glossary of common woolen and textile industry terms. It was handed down to Ken Hirst from his father Ivan Hirst, grandson of Godfrey Hirst. At the end there is an additional recording . Image appears to be of staff working at mending tables in an unknown woollen mill.Black and white photo attached to a light brown backing board. Photo shows women seated at desks in an unknown woollen mill, presumably working on 'mending' cloth. Roof appears to have a sawtooth design. -

Made by the Returned Soldiers & Sailors Mill in Geelong, post-1924. Rug was given to NWM from another museum in Western AustraliaTartan rug with cream base, featuring pattern with blue, black, green, yellow and red believed to be the Dress Stewart tartan pattern. RS&S label stitched on back of one corner. Label has stitched signature of John Monash. Two of the ends are tasseled. Appears used with several stains and small holes. Created by the Creswick Woollen Mills for wildland firefighting. Has CFA logoRed fire blanket containg aramid core with wool stiched to either side. White CFA logo locatted in the centre top of the blanket. Creator's label stiched in white to the bottom right corner of the blanket. From the collection of a family who had three generations that worked for Dennys Lascelles. This is a catalogue describing the Mossgiel estate for an upcoming auction which was going to be held through the Dennys Lascelles Company. Mossgiel was built for or owned by Brigadier-General Robert Smith, who (I believe) was the founder of the Returned Soldiers & Sailors Mill in Newtown.Cream/pale yellow coloured paper booklet with maroon/brown text and border on front page, "Mossgiel" text in centre. 6 pages, bound with two metal staples on spine.
