A 1981 Calendar of Sandhurst (Bendigo) in 1881. The front cover has many shots of the city including the Mining Exchange, the Fountain, the train station and many more. Second page, a, for January and February is a larger photo of the front of the Beehive Chambers and Mining exchange. Second photo,b, for the months of March and April is a view from Post Office tower looking north to White Hills. Third photo ,c, for the month of May and June is a photo of the Sandhurst Post Office in Pall Mall. Fourth photo, d, for July and August is a top view of the Sandhurst Railway Station. A 2005 page from the Spirit of Place Calendar that shows a large fairly recent photo taken by someone called Chris Kirwan of the old Bendigo Stock Exchange for the month of June. The building seems to be fairly worn out in this photo, I can only imagine what it looks like now in 2019. The back of the page shows many classic Victorian locations such as Hanging Rock. Newspaper cutting titled Long Gully school has a proud record. Paper dated Wednesday, February 14, 1990. Article was Community Focus with Maurie McDonald. The school was holding a reunion on Sunday, April 1. Article mentions some history of the school, distances from other schools and the meetings and a petition to get the school. Eventually a tender was accepted from Crawford Brothers, Bath Hotel, Sandhurst, for 2745 pounds, for the erection of the new building with an extra 50 pound for white brick facings. The new school was opened by the Minister of Public Instruction on January 15, 1879. There is a photo of the school in the article. There are also two pink photo copies of the article. Manchester Arms, Admiral Arms both has pretentious music halls attracted large crowds. 1862 - Ironbark, Long Gully sought annexation by the Municipality of Sandhurst. 1872 - Long Gully Fire Brigade was formed. Keen rivals. 1850 - recognised Chinese camp. ? Long Gully - due to the sinking deeper and the rewards generally richer, became the heart of 'Little Cornwall' - Cornish people. * Tent Church services held in 1862. Long Gully Mine opened April 1852.
