British pattern steel army helmet as used in both WW1 and WW2. This example dates from the WW2 era.British pattern steel helmet, dark olive in colour. Outside of the helmet is covered in dark olive green mesh which is secured with olive green cotton cord. A bolt head is prominent on the crown of the helmet and corresponds to a nut and thread on the inside. This nut and bolt secures a black rubber pad. A sweat band in black synthetic material is secured to the inside rim of the helmet. This Law Book is dated 23.5.1888 - 22.8.1888 and pre-dates the establishment of the Wycheproof Court House that was opened on September 24,1890.This early Wycheproof Law register records the types of charges brought against the accused in 1888 such as failure to immunize child, send child to school, pay rates,goods and maintenance,to control pests and vermin, being drunk and disorderly in a public place. This trophy has been presented to the Warrnambool & District Football League by the South Warrnambool Football Club. This latter club still plays in the Hampden Football League and dates back to the 1880s and possibly beyond and has always been a traditional rival of the Warrnambool Football Club. West End Football Club dates back to the 1890s and joined with the Allansford Football Club in the 1960s to form the West End Allansford team. In 2001 the name ‘West End’ was dropped from the club’s name. Russells Creek Football Club was established in 1931 and still plays in the Warrnambool & District Football League which dates back to the early 1900sThis football trophy is of interest as it comes from the mid 20th century and concerns two local Warrnambool football clubs still existing today and one club that no longer exists.This is a wooden trophy in the shape of a shield. It has a silver scroll on the top and a silver heart shape in the middle. There is a cord on the back of the shield attached by metal hooks for hanging purposes. This plate for display in the MTSV chapel acknowledges his bequest and the material donated. The item dates from the years of Dutch influence in the region which ended in 1962. The region is now known as West Papua.As the above urls will show, West Papua's history is a complex one with various colonial powers disputing ownership with the local inhabitants. Modern Indonesia also lays claim to it. The area was part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from 1949 till 1962. Prior to 1949 it was part of the Dutch East Indies.
