Set of 6 printed financial reports for The Melbourne Tramways Trust, giving Liabilities and Assets, Sinking Fund and interest transactions for the half year end, and statement of receipts, statement of Receipts and expenditure. Signed by the Treasurer R. Wallace and the auditor C. W. Ellis and dated. All have been stored folded in half vertically. .1 - 31st March 1901 - has dirt marks, stains, edge damage and very dirty on rear. .2 - 30th September 1901 - has stain marks, edge damage, bottom right hand corner has been folded. .3 - 31st March 1902 - has one stain, top edge damaged, dirt marks on rear, bottom right hand corner folded. .4 - 30th September 1902 - has two stains, dirt marks on rear. .5 - 31st March 1903 - has minor fading around edges. Each book has been ruled in red ink, headed year and month, days, page totals with data entered for each depot of the distance or mileage or kilometres for each date, including separate tram and bus entries. .1 - Blue cloth covered with Letraset, black plastic strip on outside "Tram / Bus Kilometres" for the period 1-7-1965 to 30-6-1975. Black and white photograph of a lightly loaded cable car set, trailer 415, eastbound in Bourke St, nearing Russell St. Set has destination of Nicholson St. The Conductor and Gripman are both on the grip car - "gossiping". In the background are signs for Sharpe's store, Parers Hotel, Lewis's and Normans. On the underside of the photograph written in black ink "Cable Tram in Bourke St Jan 1937" Noelle Jones - 24/5/2021 It is no later than 1946, as Maples purchased the Love & Lewis business (194-6 Bourke St) in that year (the business was being sold by the executors of the owner). Note also that Parer's (not Parkers) Hotel, at 200 Bourke Street, was established in the 1880s by the Parer Brothers, originally from Spain. The most famous member of the family was Damien Parer, the WWII photographer. The building was demolished in 1960, and is the site of the Midcity Arcade. Sharpes bought the property on the left (202-4 Bourke St) in 1954, after being tenants for 20 years. Gateway published the Federal Airports Corporation as an inbound magazine for overseas travellers. In an email from Roberto 2/10/2014 - "G'day Warren, Yes indeed the Gateway Magazine with a younger Roberto at South Depot. Brings to mind that South Depot did the bulk of the tramways media through the 90s until closure. On the list of programs I have in the archive is Totally Wild (Channel 10), Monty the Weatherman did 4 crosses live (Channel 9), 7.30 Reports (ABC), we hosted 4 Corners around the network and a few other programs on Channel 7. Plenty of newspapers and radio. Handy with a close to city location the PTC sent the media to South for tram stories. I have the 6 Trammie banners from the Trammies Exhibition at the Immigration Museum where we worked together back in 2003. I've used them occasionally and may need them for a tram presentation in March next year....would they be handy as a part of a exhibit at Hawthorn? The Connies are still going strong....festivals and events, sometimes in schools and we've co-funded 2 tram festivals in Kolkata with the Calcutta Tramways in 2012 and 2013....environment central to the themes. Kevin keeps me posted on how things are going at Hawthorn. I met Doug Prosser at Hawthorn a few months ago and all looking good. Kevin sends me copies of The Bellcord....and just last week I was on the Hawthorn Museum website reading about the Box Hill - Doncaster Tram for a Connie performance in Box Hill late in November. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989. The book "The First of its Kind" was published in 2015. Printed in Bendigo by "Bendigo Modern Press". Memories compiled by Peter Rosewall; who attended the last NDSN school PTS 108 between 1986 - 89.Original page in colour including photograph and description of the reunion of the Class of 64 in 2014. The photograph is titled "Fun Times. The group of 20 enjoyed reminiscing about their training back in the 1960's when they reunited on Saturday.
