This laminated copy of an advertisement promotes an Easter Monday picnic to be held at G. Eason's Farm in aid of the Ballarat Orphan Asylum. The original poster is undated. The farm was located at what was then known as Scot's March, later called Scotsburn, located a few kilometres southeast of Buninyong. The event promised a wide array of food, tea, coffee, games, sports and ended up with a Grand Ball. Laminated copy of an undated advertisement for a Grand Easter Picnic to be held at Eason's Farm, Scot's March, near Buninyong. Proceeds were to go to the Ballarat Orphan Asylum. Scot's Marsh is an earlier name for Scotsburn. Foaled 1921 (1st Foal) won the St Patrick's Day Cup off scratch over 1 3/4 miles worth £95 (Winner £70 plus silver cup) at Northall Park Tasmania on 17th March 1928, ridden by AJ Gregg defeating Bundaberg 2nd and Field Voyage 3rd. Winning Time 4.20.5 (Note: Result and story published in the Launceston Examiner on 19 Mar 1928 states that the owner at the time was M McLeod not T Allan as per trophy)1928 St Patrick's Day Cup won by Mavis Direct at Northall Park, Tasmania. William Leslie Tibbett No VX28381 enlisted on 19.6.40 in 2/21st Batt AIF age 20 years. As part of Gull Force they were posted on the Island of Ambon to defend the Harbour and Airstrip. In January 1942 some 20,000 Japanese troops invaded the Island. Off the Gull Force of 1131 men 779 were either KIA or died as POW’s. His death is listed as 1.10.43. Photos in possession of Arthur Severino, a garrison member at Dhurringile, who also helped maintain the powerplant?. Passed on to his son, William (Bill) on his death, along with a sketch of Dhurringile (cat. C0906). The only information known about the photos is what was written on or beside them & that they were from Arthur's time served as a garrison member at Dhurringile. Arthur also apparently helped to maintain the powerplant whilst at Dhurringile. (Some photos of barracks may have been taken at Puckapunyal instead, where he went immediately after Dhurringile, to enlist in 2nd AIF). 1. Arthur in front of barracks doorway 2.
