Stamped enamelled round brass piece with a hole stamped at the top and ring placed through. Used as a SEC tramways employees pass. Has the SEC logo in the centre, organisational name (State Electricity Commission of Victoria) in white enamelled and outer ring the words "Electricity Supply Department, Provincial Tramways". This was in blue enamel. On rear stamped the number "127" Was issued to Mr. Adam Balloch, carpenter with the SEC depot. Bob (Herman) Hymans (a former member of the Royal Netherlands Navy) was born in Bloemendaal, Holland on 30th September 1922. During World War II he fought against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was imprisoned in Changi and on the Burma Railway. After gaining qualifications as a Ski Instructor, Bob arrived in Falls Creek in July 1950. Working as an Instructor and Supervisor at Bogong Lodge, Bob decided his future was in accommodation. He was successful in negotiating an indenture for land from the State Electricity Commission (SEC). It took Bob two years to build his Grand Coeur Chalet but, tragically, it was burned down in August 1961. Bob also built the first Chairlift in Australia. This was a single chairlift and the structure was built from wooden electricity poles. He was constantly full of new ideas and proposals for the village. Bob Hymans die on 7th July 2007. This Collection of documents and letters tells the story of Bob's endeavours to develop Falls Creek into the ski village it is today.This letter is significant because it reflects the relationship between Bob Hymans and the Management Committee.In this letter to the Falls Creek Tourist Area Management Committee, Mr Hymans' indicates that he intends to use materials currently stored in the building on Site 2. As the building program had been delayed by the SEC until the summer of 63/64, he does not know where their new destination would be. This is a lady’s ticket issued by the Warrnambool Football Club in 1898. The Warrnambool Football Club, established in 1861, is one of the oldest clubs in Victoria (and the world?). It merged with South Warrnambool in 1924, was re-established as a stand-alone club in 1928 and joined the Hampden League in 1933. It still competes in this League. The secretary in 1898, William Oakley, was a well-known footballer known as ‘Wing’ and was also a co-Principal with Richard Lawson of a private boy’s school, Warrnambool College, in the late 1890s. This is a significant item as an example of a football club’s lady’s ticket in 1898 and as a 19th century memento from the Warrnambool Football Club and from William Oakley.This is a small cardboard ticket with a green background and gold lettering. The new State Electricity Commission construction camp at the head of the Kiewa Valley was for workmen on the second power station in the project expected to be the most modern and best equipped in Australia… In contrast to the early Kiewa days of horses and canvas tents, the new camp, with its modern amenities, compared favourably with any country town. Administration of the Kiewa Scheme was moved from Tawonga to Mount Beauty in 1946. The first house in Mount Beauty, in Hollonds Street, was occupied by the co-op store manager from November 1946. The new Mess Hall at Mt Beauty was opened with much ceremony in early November 1946. The houses up to Nelse street were erected from 1946 onward and then the township was extended beyond Nelse Street in 1950. The workmen's camp was enlarged in 1950 to the extent of providing accommodation for a total of 1,200.Shows early construction in the town of Mt. Demonstrates the detail of the uniform of tramway/motorman workers.1940 - Cap Badge for a "Motorman". Made from a cast brass item, nickel plated to indicate the position held by the wearer on their cap as part of their uniform. Cast in the form of the handwritten or script word/s and underlined. On the rear, silver soldered on are two brass loops at either of the badge to enable it to be sewn or fitted with clips onto the cap. On the back of the back of the badge in very small letters is the name of the manufacturer - Stokes & Sons / Melbourne. Same manufacturers logo as in Reg Item 1937. Part of the ESCo company and possibly early SEC uniform. ESCo employee number on a special lapel bade - see Reg. item 1952. Not used by the SEC from 1940 - employee number on the cap but early SEC uniforms show them on the collar of the jacked - not known if this uniform adopted. See Reg.
