Regimental stable belts were worn with Howard Green jumper and with summer polyester uniform. They were introduced as uniform in late 1970s and withdrawn from use in 1995. WW1 diary, notes and photographs of Private Herbert William Cripps. Covers the period from October 1916 until October 1919. Includes a list of "autographs" of participants collected by Cripps on the evening before the attack on St Quentin Canal. Cripps departed Melbourne onboard HMAT Nestor 2 October 1916, and returned to Australia in January 1919. Black, soft-covered notebook, loose-leaf notes and (four) photographs. This case was used by Captain Charles Arblaster, a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon, who served with the 8th Light Horse Regiment at Gallipoli where he was wounded and evacuated to the United Kingdom for treatment. He returned to Egypt and transferred to the 53rd Infantry Battalion and proceeded to the Western Front where he was wounded and taken prisoner of war at Fromelles on 20 July 1916 and died of wounds four days later. He was aged 21. His personal effects were returned to his family in this case. His diary was transcribed by Doug Hunter in 1997 and the original returned to the donor.A rare example of an officer's trunk used in WWI. It is well provenanced and of particular significance to his family, it being the case in which his personal effects were returned following his death. It is in good condition considering its age and travel history.Suitcase of pasteboard with jute fabric facing, wood and metal external protection strips, leather corner protectors, leather handle on each end, two metal locks and leather security strap. Case has internal lift-out tray and ribbon letter rack on inside of lid. Lined throughout with fabric. Alec Sandner was a Strathfieldsaye Shire Councillor from 1982 -1987, Strathfieldsaye Shire President from 1985 – 86 and Mayor of Bendigo 2011 - 2012. This album provides at in depth understanding of the many responsibilities of a Shire President and partners. The newspaper articles, mostly collected from the Bendigo Advertiser, provides commentary on the key issues of the times. Fifty page photo album containing invitations, photographs, newspaper cuttings and event memorabilia dating from 6th March - 6th August 1986, documenting events attended by Alec and Helen Sandner during Alec's time as Strathfieldsaye Shire President. Augustus Bostock was the 9th child of Robert & Rachael Bostock of Vaucluse Epping Forest, Van Diemen’s Land. He was only 4 years old when his mother died. He was inspired by his father to seek his fortune in the Western District of Victoria. He arrived around 1850. He married Margaret Aitkin in July 1865. Augustus owned several properties in the district and leased others. He sat on the court of Warrnambool, Mortlake or Hexham as required. He resided at Marramook in Hawkesdale and later moved to Vaucluse in Hopetoun Road Warrnambool, where he died in 1920 at the age of 87. He was involved in many aspects of life in the Western District, racing, cricket, and social activities to name a few. This lease relates to land in the parish of Minjah in the county of Villiers. This is one of a number of documents which relate to the Bostock family who were one of the most important pioneering families of the Western District. They owned and leased various properties around Warrnambool and were involved in many aspects of social and business life. The document itself is indicative of its time and provides an insight into the details and terms of such documents at the time.Four page lease, beige coloured document.
