Andrew Edwardson Gates was born on the 30th December 1915 in Carlton, Victoria. He enlisted in South Melbourne on the 4th November 1939 whilst living in East Brunswick, Victoria. Charles Plowright operated the Western Hotel on the corner of Timor and Kepler Streets from 1910 until around 1919. It was built in 1869 by William O’Brien, having been designed by Andrew Kerr. It was a staging place for the Cobb & Co Coaches. A common commercial product with which many people could identify. The Western Hotel is a common Warrnambool landmark built around 1869, it was one of the earliest hotels and operates to this day. Plain white soup bowl with flat rim. The bluestone house 'Amelia' was built in 1914/1915 and has included a combination of Victorian and Federation styles. Andrew Patterson the first owner lived there for over 40 years. It is thought that the bluestone used for the walls came from the first state.A coloured photograph of 'Amelia', a bluestone double fronted house with white wooden trims and a white corrugated roof. Three Ballarat churches boast stained glass windows by Amalie Feild - St Andrew's Kirk, Lydiard Street Uniting Church, and the Mount Pleasant Methodist Church boast stained glass windows were made to Amalie's design. The letter refers to a book 'Scottish Christian Herald' published in 1835 and brought to Bendigo by her G. G. Grandfather Andrew Stewart who was born in 1823 near Loch Lomond Scotland. He settled with his family in Goornong before drowning near Lynams Bridge on August 1 1863. The Presbyterian congregation began in 1854. The first St Andrews church was built in Myers Street in 1859 but this was demolished and the current stuccoed brick building was built in 1930.
