Clothing - INFANT BOY'S DRESS, 1883- 1885
White child's dress of heavy cotton lace. Sleeveless bodice with arm holes edged with 3cm ungathered broderie type lace. High round neckline with 5cm lace flat collar. Back opening to waist with 5 x 1cm white buttons. LHS is seamed with buttons attached. RHS edge has button holes pushed through edge of lace. 5mm cotton tape is threaded through seam at neck line to form ties at the back. Skirt is made up of two layers of fabric gathered onto the bodice. Underneath layer is 25 cm deep - 12 cm plain fabric from waist with 13 cm edge of broderie type lace with scalloped edges. Top layer of 13cm of broderie type lace with scalloped edges. Unlined. Machine stitched. Skirt pieces are single pieces of lace fabric with seam at centre back.costume, children's, infant boy's dress -

Domestic Object - MERLE HOULDEN COLLECTION: FABRIC POT HOLDER, 1940's-50's
Square shaped pot holder. Centre panel, and back lining are made from pale blue "silky - type" (probably synthetic) fabric. This 9 X 11cm panel is surrounded by a band of yellow fabric, which also forms a binding around the edges. A blue and white check flannelette fabric forms the padding in the pot holder. Folded strips of floral cotton form a decorative band between the small and larger rectangles. This border is decorated by yellow stitchery. Document - HANRO COLLECTION: LETTERS - AUTHORITY TO SIGN CHEQUES
Typed letter on paper with Hanro letterhead and dated 30 November 1932. It mentions that the new company will execute the Bank Mortgage forms over the deeds at present held by the bank. Signed by four directors. Duplicate copy written across the top corner. A Draft Minutes, dated 30 the November 1932 mentioned those present, Messrs Longstaff, Lansell, Keck and Rankin. Those authorized to signing and endorse cheques, to draw, endorse and accept Bills of Exchange and Drafts and to make and endorse Promissory Notes on the Company's behalf in connection with the E S & A Bank. The second part refers to transfer of assets. Clothing - EMILY NANKIVELL COLLECTION: RED FOX FUR COLLAR, Early 1900's-1930's
Narrow fox fur collar. Pointed 1 cm wide 'skin' nose, which forms the upper part of the enclosed metal clip fasten the collar (squeeze lever on inside). Two glass eyes. A corded ''chain'' finished with a woven toggle, and a cord covered hook fasten the fur around the neckline or shoulders. Accessory - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: CLOTHES BRUSH, MAKE-UP BRUSH, HAIR COMB, 1920's
Objects. Clothes brush is oval in shape, with a polished wooden base, and black bristles. Shaped to a rounded point at each end. Bristles 2.5 cm long. Nine rows of bristles. Make-up brush bears Chinese writing on the handle, 23.5 cm long with 6.5 cm long white hairs forming the brush. Hairs are held in an ebony cup shape fitting, attached to the handle. An ebony top-knot completed with a red silk ribbon loop finishes the top of the handle.Hair comb: Tortoise shell, with three 7 cm long teeth, which unfortunately are broken from the fan-shaped decorative top. The fan-shaped top of the comb, has an art-deco type flowing floral design-1920's.Chinese lettering - six characters.costume accessories, female, clothes brush, make-up brush, hair comb. -

Clothing - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: CRINOLETTE, 1870's
Clothing. Cream polished cotton, full length half slip petticoat. Plackett at the back, fastens with two metal hooks, and hand-stitched loops. The back features a 'crinolette', where two rows of tapes are gathered in to give volume to the back of the garment. As the crinoline started to subside at the end of the 1860's. The centre front panel features 6 angled bands of lace 4.5 cm wide and angled to form a V shape. (1) A 9.5 cm band of pleated linen gauze-like fabric, edged with a 5 cm band of linen lace. (2) A 15 cm double layered frill-top layer 2 cm wide silk like pleats, lined with linen muslin type fabric, and an under frill of polished cotton, pleated in one cm wide knife pleats. The top frill is of fine cream cotton lace. At the top edge is a 3.5 cm wide band of floral cotton lace, and adjoined at the lower edge with a 9 cm deep pleated trim of exquisite cotton "floral and swirls" lace. The top frill is 42 cm wide, and extends over the centre front panel only. A cotton covered " stiffening- possibly bamboo or whale bone, extends 31.5 cm ;long at the crinolette. An unusual 'pocket like bag' is sewn into the right side seam 14 cm below the waist. This has rounded corners, and is 8 cm wide at the top, 17.5 cm wide at the lower edge, which is then rounded slightly. Overall length of the 'pocket' is 38 cms.costume, female, crinolette full length half slip -

Old Gippstown
Building - Loren Iron House, 1859
Loren (formerly James Hogg's house) is a two-storey gabled prefabricated house, constructed using broad-gauge corrugated iron and was originally erected in 60-62 Curzon Street, North Melbourne in 1854 for builder, James Hogg. By 1968 the building had deteriorated and it was dismantled and moved to Old Gippstown where it was re-erected and restored. The building's external framing system consists of exposed metal columns with Gothic panel motifs at the corners. Internally the timber framed walls have been finished with new papers over new Hessian. The corrugated iron roof has an unusual concave form and the windows, floors and doors are of moulded softwood.State historic significance as a rare type of iron prefab. house.
