Typed Addendum for Page 9. Mentioned is the initials of Captain Truscott who was officer in charge of the Long Gully Fire Brigade from 1919 to 1920 was A T Tony. Next is after the brigade was deregistered the station was demolished and rebuilt at Haggar St Eaglehawk for use as a bakery. It traded under the name of Dingle's Modern Bakery. After World War 2 it was taken over by a bedding company, then later RAOB Buffalo Lodge Hall. Cornish humour and dialect is also mentioned. Short history of the Long Gully Fie Brigade by G A Ellis. The brigade started in 1873 and was disbanded in 1932. The brigades's main appliance was a cart or reel pulled by the men. The men used to practice in Creeth Street and later there were competitions with other brigades. A new station was built in 1905. Hand written letter to The Secretary from ? Grattan, Flat 14, 449 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne 3004, enclosing a paper which might interest the Society. It had been sent to the person by their solicitors. As the writer was disposing of papers, the papers were sent to the Society as they had no interests in the district. The writer's father had owned a Station between Shepparton and Benalla which was acquired for closer settlement. Letter has a dark blue monogram at the top with a bird standing on a block and in one leg holding a lance. The wings are raised. The picket group formed St Patricks' Day 1987 at Graham station as the first earthworks began for closing the railway.They were confronted by police who used physical force to break the picket. The picket continued at Bridge and Evans for 3 months.Three large yellow sheets with photos of the Port Melbourne Pickets and police officers. 17th or 18th of March 1987.
