Appeared in the Bendigo Advertiser on ANZAC Day 1985. Black coloured powder coated metal frame with glass. Black & white enlarged copy of an Ian Glanville cartoon referencing the Boer War Statue. Three male figures appear with some later additions made in black ink. The 8/13 VMR provided soldiers to Anzac Day marches and services in NE Victoria and Southern NSW.The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles was raised as a regiment of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps on 1 May 1948 with Headquarters in Melbourne and squadrons in Sale, Benalla/Wangaratta and Albury. In 1955 Regimental Headquarters moved to Wangaratta and a second squadron was located at Albury. The Sale squadron transferred to 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse. Proudly worn by soldiers of the 1st and 2nd Australian Imperial Force in both World Wars, the 'Rising Sun' badge has become an integral part of the digger tradition. The distinctive shape of the badge, worn on the upturned side of a slouch hat, is commonly identified with the spirit of Anzac. There are seven patterns of the Rising Sun. Manufactured in 1967 to commemorate the WW1 ANZAC Gallipoli Peninsular Campaign in 1915. Issued to recipient P. T. Bernard. For commemoration of service throughout the Gallipoli Campaign in 1915. Issued to P. T. Bernard.Cast in Bronze. 75mm high and 50mm wide. Obverse depicts Simpson and his donkey carrying a wounded soldier to safety. It is bordered on the lower half by a laurel wreath above the word ANZAC. Reverse shows a map of Australia and New Zealand superimposed by the Southern Cross. The lower half is bordered by the New Zealand Fern leaves. The name and initials of the recipient is engraved and the medallion is issued in a presentation box. Engraved for P. T. Bernard.
