Painting, Untitled (Portland Port), c. 1990
Project to interconnect NSW, Victoria and SA power grid officially opened 30 March 1990. Painting one of several commissioned to mark the link up. Presented to Cr. Bob Menzel at Heywood terminal station. Later in Admella Week activities display (Aug. 4-18, 1990). Displayed at Woodturners' Guild rooms in 1992 (Source: Portland Observer, 12/8/92).Depiction of a harbour and port with industry, boats, ships and a town in the background. In foreground is a road and a grassy area with pine trees. Jetties lead from this area into water. At centre right is an active port with woodchip pile, cranes, buildings and silos. To the left is a red vessel. At top left is a shore area with a road rising to the right, a spired church and several buildings. Large amounts of steam rises from the pile of woodchips of the port. Circular tapa cloth on masonite backing board, with edges sewn with plant fibre. Scene painted on cloth depicts huts with palm trees by the side of a creek. The creek is edged by a sandy verge and reeds. In the creek are fish traps. The image is painted in black and dark ochre dyes. -

Commissioned by State Bank to produce 5 copper bas-reliefs for 73 Percy Street, Portland. Spoke with Miss Betty Vivian (Member of the Portland Historical Society) re Portland's history. Commonwealth Bank stored objects in Melbourne (c.1991). Negotiations between Portland Historical Society and Commonwealth Bank of Australia led to gift of works to People of Portland. Stored at Council depot c.1998, retrieved for Maritime Discovery Centre display.Copper relief work. View of a man from behind sawing a tree. Photograph of Cross carved by Kevin Gilders and completed in 2010. Inscription on plaque: 'This Cross commemorates the 30th anniversary of Loyola College Watsonia. It is sculptured form the wood of the cedar tree that once stood on these grounds in the roundabout in front of the Loyola Jesuit House of Studies and Novitiate building from 1934-2009. The Cross was unveiled by College Captains Adam Leary and Julia Cosgrave; Fr Steven Rigo; President of the Association of Canonical Administrators and Mr Joseph Favrin; College Principal. It was blessed by Fr Gerry Healy SJ at the College celebration of the feast of St Ignatius held on July 30th 2010. Part of a collection of photographs of Loyola College; Grimshaw Street Watsonia; established 1980 on the site of the Loyola Seminary. The College purchased the original building in 2002.
