Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. She also held a range of roles and committee positions in a wide range of Wodonga community organisations. These included the Horticultural Society, the Wodonga Arts Council, the Wodonga Camera Club and the Wodonga Lapidary Club.This photo collection is significant as it documents how the businesses and buildings in Wodonga have evolved and contributed to community throughout the 20th century.Businesses located at 110 to 112 High Street, Wodonga. Northumberland County was one of the original Nineteen Counties in New South Wales and is now one of the 141 Cadastral divisions of New South Wales. The Greta area was first colonized by Europeans around Anvil Creek in the 1830s. When the town was surveyed in 1842 it was given the name Greta, possibly after a small river in Cumberland, England. During World War II he fought against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was imprisoned in Changi and on the Burma Railway. After gaining qualifications as a Ski Instructor, Bob arrived in Falls Creek in July 1950. Working as an Instructor and Supervisor at Bogong Lodge, Bob decided his future was in accommodation. He was successful in negotiating an indenture for land from the State Electricity Commission (SEC). It took Bob two years to build his Grand Coeur Chalet but, tragically, it was burned down in August 1961. Bob also built the first Chairlift in Australia. This was a single chairlift and the structure was built from wooden electricity poles. He was constantly full of new ideas and proposals for the village. Bob Hymans died on 7th July 2007. This Collection of documents and letters tells the story of Bob's endeavours to develop Falls Creek into the ski village it is today.This item is significant because it documents an early type of over-snow transport introduced to Falls Creek by Bob Hymans.An article from an unknown publication showing a Snow-Sedan which was manufactured by Fudge's Industries at Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada. As a Builder, this item was made as a hobby item which showed his Excellent skills with minute craftsmanship. It was selected, and featured as item 233, in Murray Walkers catalog, Colonial Crafts of Victoria, published in 1978, for the Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, November 1978 to January 1979.This hand-made picture frame is an example of the Arts and Crafts movement from the 1880's. It was made by Local Korumburra carpenter and builder, Mr. Dan Jarvis. This showed his excellent skills with minute craftsmanship. It was selected in 1978, and featured as item 233 in Murray Walker’s catalogue, Colonial Crafts of Victoria, for the exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria.
