Provides information on how a tramcar body was fitted with a wheelset or truck (Brill Radiax EB1 type). Lifted on the jacks after delivery by a horse drawn jinker from the Railway Station (See Reg Item 8321) The wheel set is being pushed under the tramcar by another tramcar. Once fitted the tramcar would have been towed back into the depot and the motors etc connected. Has the Blakiston & Co. building in the background. Yields information about how tramcar bodies were lifted outside the Geelong tram depot in Brougham St in order to be made operational. Shows Glenferrie Road, near Linda St looking south, c1915 prior to the construction of the Railway overpass at Glenferrie Railway Station with H class tram 58 in the view. The tram line was constructed in 1913. It would appear that the level crossing gates are closed in the photograph. The building on the right-hand side by the horse-drawn cart was an ANZ bank until 2021. The closer building, a theatre (The Palace) has since been demolished and is now a Coles Supermarket. The level crossing was replaced with an overbridge in April 1916. The church in the background is the Immaculate Conception Church, without the spires - built after WW1. Photograph - undated, possibly prior to the First World War, shows a cable tram with the destination of Spring St passing under the Port Melbourne/St Kilda Rail lines overbridge in Queens Bridge Street. The bridge has a large advert for Wolfe's Schnapps - "for your health sake". On the left-hand side are two policemen talking to each other. There are four horse-drawn carts and one open-top motor car. In the background are Queens Bridge Motors Pty Ltd building and the Queens Bridge Family Hotel. Note the windmill on the left-hand side of the photograph. Book review from The Courier, titled "Tram ride to success", reviewing a book "The Promise of Gold and its results" written by David Griffiths. Looks at the life and work of John Garibaldi Roberts a supporter of the Arts and Chief Accountant of the Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Co (MTOCo) and later the manager of the cable tram system for the MMTB. He retired in 1923. Has photos of the family, John at his work desk in 1910 and the directors of the MTOCo. Item written by Caleb Cluff of The Courier. One of Roberts guests was C J Dennis, who wrote Songs of the Sentimental bloke" while staying at Roberts place in the Dandenongs which had been formed from disused horse buses.
