Set of destination indicator equipment that was fitted to Z3 and A class trams. Each item consists of various electronic parts contained within a metal case that could have been cabled together. Equipment manufactured by (Carl) C. Brose of Wuppertal Germany and maintained by Font Electronics of Melbourne - some items have the manufacturers details on them along with the details of the maintenance company and serial numbers etc. Photo .1 - shows the set of equipment as placed on display in the training room. .1 - set of two route number boxes, three individual controlled blinds, driven by a motor and control gear. Thirty two page landscape booklet on semi gloss white paper with off white or cream cover and single supplementary white sheet tipped onto the inside of the front cover titled "See Melbourne's Beautiful Beaches and Garden Suburbs from a Special Bus". Saddle stapled, printed letterpress. Text printed in black and green ink. Cover green ink only. The book advertising MMTB's Special tourist bus, giving overall tour details on page 1, including fares, time of departures and reservations. Each tour has a map showing the route, details of the tour route with notes and photographs. Page 14 shows a maximum traction tram on the reserved track in Dandenong road and page 30, W2 488 outbound in Victoria Parade. Page 32 has an advertisement for the Round Trip by Tram 1/-. Front cover has details of the departure times and fares and a photo of the Tourist Bus. The supplementary sheet has been prepared for the tours that operated daily from Sun Sept. 18 to Friday May 31, except Anzac Day. Set of 14 black and white photographs of the use of former sleeper transport car, W2 485 - see page 80 of Destination City 5th Edition for more details of the tram. Tram body being used to train emergency staff how to recover a tramcar that had been tipped over onto its side. DC5, notes it was stored at Preston workshops and later "used an instruction car to train emergency crews in the righting of the overturned trams. It was overturned several times in this role." Note: - would have been at the time, probably the only way to do this, as mobile cranes were only just starting to be developed. Truck is an AEC built Matador truck.
