Humorous Card from H.T. Queen Mary, 1941
VX 27898 Corporal Thomas John Morris Thomas (Tom Thomas) donated several items to Cranbourne RSL. He served in the Australian Corp Signals in WWII both in Australia and overseas. He was born at Womerah on 9/11/1906 and died at Koo Wee Rup 16/06/1984. He enlisted at Yarram on 1/7/1940 and was discharged at Royal Park on 9/3/1945.Brown card with black line drawing of a cruise liner, the H.T Queen Mary. Black printed text beneath."H.T. David Kinnane was the leader of a Victorian Railways First Aid team that won many state and interstate competitions. Other members of the team were: Geoffrey Storey and Joe Deveson. Box 438, Canberra City in 1971, 3rd edition with a small corrigenda sheet. Describes Melbourne s tram car fleet. Includes brief description of each type, photographs and a summary history. Has many photographs of the various tramcars associated with relevant text. On front cover, has W7 1010 with green and black banding and price. On page 1 is a map of Melbourne tramways drawn in 1971, but showing abandoned lines as well. Page ii, inside cover, has a list of Traction Publications. Back cover has a end on photograph of SW6 940. Outside of covers is gloss paper. Corrigenda sheet - 85mm sq has been placed inside its own cover and numbered 1803a. Functional Object - Employee's Pass, 20/08/2001 12:00:00 AM
Dark green cloth enveloping two pieces of cardboard, joined together with the cloth, printed on the outside with the MMTB logo and the words "Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board / EMPLOYEE'S PASS / 1947". On the inside, two pre printed pieces of off white paper have been glued to the cloth covered cards. The top card has been over stamped using a hand stamp machine with the Number "8478" and overprinted in purple ink " ' 47". Space for the name of the employee, occupation and for authorising signature of the Board Secretary has been provided. The bottom section details the conditions of use and space for the employees signature. Ticket issued to "L. J. Denmead", "Inspector" and signed by "R.A. Spencer"? as Board Secretary and signed by "Leslie Denmead". All entries made in black ink. These passes would have been issued as part of the conditions of employment. Photographic illustration of South Australian Railways Locomotive No. 620, the has been printed onto card and then cut out in the form of outline of the locomotive. Printed in green ink and then over printed in a silver ink to highlight the locomotive. On the rear of the illustration has been printed details of the locomotive (Light Pacific Engine), designed and built at SAR's Islington Workshops. Gives details of the locomotive, SAR's service. Notes that SAR has given 80 years of service. Printed by the Government Printer Adelaide. Reference -"Kings of the Iron Horse" by David Burke, page 164 -5 - gives details of the launch of the locomotive, 'Sir Winston Dugan', then Governor of South Australia. Photo of the launch and locomotive on opposite page 196. Would probably have been made for the launch of locomotive or soon after. Functional Object - Bankcard plates and envelope, 1970's mid
831.1 - Aluminium plate cut and stamped with the letters and words "467026 1 / BALLARAT TRAMWAY SO / BALLARAT VIC". Used by the BTPS/BTM in the ANZ Bankcard machine as the ID plate from the late 1970's to July 1998, when replaced by the Commonwealth Bank Machine. Plate salvaged for archive storage. Has two holes and cut outs for location onto machine. 831.2 - Plastic card -with words " ANZ BANK / MERCHANT SUMMARY CARD / CREDIT CARDS" and embossed onto cards is "561057 3011 467026 1 / BALLARAT TRAMWAY SOC / BALLARAT VIC". Words ANZ in the ANZ blue style of the time, rest black printing on white card. 831.3 - Envelope that contained item 831.2 - white envelope used by the BTPS at the time, mid 1970's with handwriting in black ink "Society Bank Card / For Claiming on / To be kept in safe at all times" Envelope has the words in green ink "BALLARAT TRAMWAY PREERVATION SOCIETY LIMITED / BOX 632, P.O., BALLARAT, VICTORIA, 3350 / A voluntary organisation operating the / BALLARAT TOURIST TRAWAY / Botanic Gardens, Ballarat". Twenty four page book with light card covers, side stapled and green cloth bound titled "The Oxy-Acetylene Resurfacing of Railway Crossings". Cover green paper with darker green mottled finish. Cover and title sheet printed in black ink, the rest printed by Gestetner process using stencils with hand drawn sketches. Gives information on the resurfacing of railway crossings using oxy acetylene rods, including equipment, preparation, flame adjustment, procedures, notes, protection and material consumption. Includes an index. On inside of rear cover has printed "Issued by / Sales Department / The Commonwealth Industrial Gases Limited / Alexandra NSW" No date given for printing, possibly c1960. Logan. .2 - Two sheets of A4 paper, three printed pages, outlining the events planned to be held for the 21st anniversary celebration from 17/9/1992 to 3/10/1992. .3 - Envelope with BTPS return stamp in green ink in top left hand corner and address label made out to Dr. O. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed... yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month ...Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Book of 10 All Day Tickets, numbered A001001 to A001010 printed for the Ballarat Vintage Tramway, contained within an orange colour front cardboard (front cover) and brown cardboard back cover sheet, with a single staple on the left hand side. On the front cover is stamped the first number of the ticket block. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month of issue on the sides and date of issue (1 to 31) on the top or bottom. Each ticket is numbered and has a perforated left edge to enable it to be torn from the book. Ticket punched by the conductor to shown the month and date of issue. On all tickets, just to the left of the staple has been printed with the Printers name and phone number. On the cover, the same information has been impressed on the cover as well, but no ink. Used from late March 1986 onwards. Item collected for archives on 28/3/1986. Replaced those titled Ballarat Tourist Tramway - See Reg. item 2727.trams, tramways, btps, all day tickets, tickets -

Thirty two page book contained within a heavy card cover, saddle stapled. Printed on gloss paper with many black and white photos inside and colour cover. Book titled "Melbourne Tram Review" written by R.A. Birrell Details the formation of the MTA, The Met or the Metropolitan Transit Authority from the MMTB in 1983, the changing nature of the fleet, depots and allocations of tramcars, listing of tram classes, with various technical specifications, including tramcar numbers and photographs. For the B class, includes those which were not in service at the time of publication. Two separate allocation listings are given, the last one being that at 19/9/1988. Has contents pages, introduction by author and on rear cover, a listing of other publications produced by the publisher, Railmac. Ticket printed on light weight card, in two colours, light green and grey, numbered 5582, for specific use between the Orphanage (Victoria St) and Doveton St. Notes the conditions of use, the time available for which the ticket may be used. Ticket has been punched or nipped four times and shows that it was stapled to a block. Printed by J.J. Miller, Melbourne. Note Item Not formally Numbered.
