Eliza Rutledge (1820-1888) was the daughter of Rupert and Jane (nee Newby) Kirk. She married William Rutledge in St James’ Church, Sydney on 18th August, 1840. She and William had five children two sons and five daughters. Recorded accounts tell that Eliza was “beloved for her kindness and hospitality” and that she and William kept open house for all manner of social events and occasions. Eliza died at Farnham Park, Dennington, on 31st August 1888. The marriage of Eliza to William Rutledge, a man of historical importance in the development of Port Fairy, Warrnambool and the western district of Victoria, places her as a person of importance.Her daughter Susan Fleetwood is also memorialised in a window in Christ Church, Warrnambool.Her son, Thomas Forster is memorialised in a tablet near the two windows for Eliza.Stained-glass lancet window, south wall, main nave. Robert Cochrane, 1843 - 1935, regarded as the "father" of Congregationalism in Victoria was chairman of directors of Brooks Ttnhinsnn Ptv.. Ltd.. and one of the leading personalities of the Congregational Union of Victoria. After having spent two years in Victoria as a member of Brooks Robinson Pty., Ltd., Mr. Cochrane returned to England in 1869. In 1883, he returned to Melbourne. On His return to Victoria he became interested in the work of the Congregational Church, and joined the Augustine Church, at Hawthorn in 1886; he was senior deacon when he died. For many years Mr. Cochrane was a senior member of the committee of the Congregational College of Victoria, and he took a leading part in the development of Congregationalism in this Victoria. Many benefited by his generosity and philanthropy, and his interest in the work of the church was combined with a generous assistance to child welfare organisations, including the Sunday School Union, the Kindergarten Union and the Boys Brigade. he Band was raised in 1969 and wears the Fletcher of Dunans tartan in honour of the Police Commissioner at that time, Mr Phil Fletcher. It celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2009 with a Grand Gaelic Ball attended by more than 300 people. Membership of the Band is voluntary and currently includes three serving police officers (including Drum Major Constable Dean Walker) and one Special Constable. The unidentified man has decorated his wagon to take part in the Easter Carnival of the Australian Native's Association. The Australian Natives Association was formed in Melbourne in 1871 and originally known as the Victorian Natives Association. The association was a friendly society and membership was restricted to white people born in Australia. Friendly society membership required a small fortnightly contribution and, in return, members received free medical care for their whole family, a funeral benefit to avoid a pauper’s grave and sick pay if they were unable to work. Frances Rigg was a local business identity in Kew, ultimately managing the local branch of the English, Scottish and Australian (ES&A) Bank at 175 High Street, Kew from c. 1920 until the 1940s. After Francis Rigg’s death, the collection of buttons and medallions was inherited by his son, Ken Rigg (14/11/1922-19/01/2014). The collection was subsequently donated to the Kew Historical Society in 2015 by his grandson Adrian Rigg at the time of the Gallipoli & Beyond Commemoration.The collection covers a period of almost 40 years. The majority of the buttons are patriotic buttons, issued and sold during and immediately after the First World World War (1914-1918) to raise funds for national and overseas causes. The collection also includes a number of locally significant sporting event buttons and sporting club medallions, issued in the 1920s and 1930s.Circular blue and gilt enamel on metal membership medallion produced by the Kew Cricket Club for the year 1934-35 that belonged to Francis Horace Rigg (1882-1946). The medallion is enameled in shades of blue and gold with inscriptions in gilt. The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes is an organisation that started in 1822 in the United Kingdom. It aids members, their families, dependents of former members and other charitable organisations. Membership is open to all males over the age of 18 years. The R.A.O.B. had lodges in the Kiewa Valley including Rocky Valley, Kiewa and in Tawonga as well as in nearby towns indicating that it was a popular organisation at the time.
