This wrought iron "ladder-frame" bookcase is located in Penleigh's bedroom. A second "ladder-frame" bookcase with a drop-down table is located in Suzy's bedroom (item F096). They were both designed by Bruce Anderson - in the past they have been incorrectly attributed to Clement Meadmore. This type of furniture was featured in 'The Age' Small Homes Service and a similar one was featured in 'The Age' Dream Home Exhibition in 1955. From 1947 to 1953, Robin Boyd was the director of The Small Homes Service, set up by the Royal Victorian Institute of Architects in conjunction with "The Age' and he produced a weekly article for 'The Age'. The origins of the Royal Australian Engineers date back to 15th November 1860 when the Corps of Engineers was founded in Victoria by Peter Scratchley. By 1876, five of the six colonies - New South Wales , Victoria ,Queensland ,Tasmania and Western Australia - had raised their own engineer units. The RAE is ranked fourth in seniority in the Corp of the Australian Army.Silver and Gold coloured hat badge showing outer laurel wreath surrounding gold St Edwards Crown with inner gold belt and ER in centre.The inner gold belt is inscribed Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense. Our Legends 25 cent coin: OBVERSE Portrait of the Queen Elizabeth II in the field of the coin. Lettering: ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2016 IRB. REVERSE Depiction of a Victoria Cross Medal. 50th anniversary of the end of the Korean war coin: The coin design background of vertical lines replicates the stainless steel poles which are a major feature of the design of the Australian National Korean War Memorial in Canberra. The 'Dove of Peace' is shown between the floral emblems of South Korea and Australia. 1915 Gallipoli Coin: The Royal Australian Mint released the 2005 One Dollar Coin commemorating the 90th anniversary of the ANZAC landing on Gallipoli. The design of the coin has a silhouette image of an Australian bugler. This design is very plain and simple, but it portrays its message - ‘Lest We Forget. The image captures the ‘sounds of the last post being played as the sun sets over the beaches of Gallipoli. Whilst commemorating the 90th anniversary of Gallipoli, the image of the bugler is the highly relevant in relation to all conflicts in which Australia has fought. Centenary of the Australian Army coin: This coin is being minted in memory of those who have given their lives in the past and those who still serve for our country today. The $1 coin displays the Army crest, also referred to as the "rising sun" crest. -

... . lydiard street south craig's royal hotel union bank of australia ...An image from the Herbert Richmond collection, gifted in 1982 to the Ballarat Library. The collection contains approximately 200 photographs of Ballarat and district in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, as well as photo albums, glass negatives and other memorabilia. Herb Richmond was a keen photographer, a foundation member and a life member of the Ballarat Camera Club, and a photographer with the Ballarat Courier during the 1940s. The Ballarat Camera Club named an annual award after him. Mr Richmond died in 1981 aged 79. These images were digitally re-photographed by members of the Ballarat Camera Club in September 2006. The first site to be sold in Ballarat, where in 1853 Thomas Bath erected a timber building for use as a hotel. Parts of the present hotel date from 1862, when Walter Craig was owner. The hotel is associated with many historic figures, and no other hotel in Victoria has such an interesting succession of buildings and additions. Letter to Robin Boyd from Lesley Murray, Public Affairs Department, Royal Institute of British Architects enclosing the RIBA's printed program for 1971-72 session. It contains a session on 30 November titled 'A Night at the Opera: a commentary on the architectural scene including the Sydney Opera House' to be presented by Robin Boyd. Robin Boyd died on 16 October 1971. The manuscript for this lecture was unfinished at Robin's death in October 1971 (see item D506). It was published in 'Architecture Plus', 'Architecture Plus', Vol.1, No.7, August 1973. Letter plus enclosed A3 size poster with RIBA Programme for 1971-72.
