This photograph shows the wharf in the 1980's. It is the early days of tourism, and shows Helen Coulson, dressed in period costume guiding the tourists. The sign shows distances from Echuca to significant sites on the Murray River in miles, as that was the way distance was calculated in the 1870's. The tourism industry was still in it's infancy and Helen was a strong supporter of the Port. The two etchings of Scots Presbyterian Church formerly in Adelaide Street Ringwood which was knocked down to make way for the development of Eastlands Shopping centre in the 1960s. The first St. Hilary’s Church of England (Kew) was a timber building on the corner of John and Rowland Streets, designed in 1888 by Albert Purchas. This timber building was demolished in the 1940s to make way for a new church and tennis courts.
