The Kew Historical Society's postcard collection includes views of Kew, Melbourne and Greater Melbourne as well as those including overseas scenes sent or received from Europe or the Middle East. They date from the 1890s to the 2000s.Modern postcard produced by the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria. The photo is of a replica tram in Victoria's Tramway Museum, and was presumably purchased for display purposes for an exhibition relating to transport in Kew, and in particular to the Kew horse-tram which operated from the Victoria Street Bridge to the Boroondara General Cemetery in Kew.This replica tram, constructed by members Alan Antcliff and Newton Williams in Mildura represents the open car used between Sydney Road and the Royal Melbourne Zoological Gradens until 1923. Notes from Joh Ebeli to the Society Committee meeting regarding plans for the use of horse drawn vehicles in the Society's entry for the 1980 parade, including whether Jock Read who opened the 1979 Parade could be asked to participate. Other notes included references to his salvaging (along with a couple of others) of the facade of the Old Bakery and plans to see if it could be incorporated into a new large room to be built at the Eltham Living and Learning Centre and following up Council. A history of the Rubicon forestHardcover. Green dust cover. Front cover photograph is Krauss 0-4-OWT, builder's No. 2459 of 1891, takes water at the western end of Rubicon Lane in 1934. Driver Bob Rees attends to his engine while brakeman Hayden looks on. End papers show a photograph of a man standing besides a timber railway trolley holding onto the brake lever. There is a group of men, some sitting and some standing, on piles of cut timber under a large, open shed in the background. There are also some small, timber, tent like structures standing next to the railway tracks. There is a forest in the far background.
