The Trolley Pole is turned on S 160 for the car to return to Lygon St along Holden St. On a wall above the W2 is written "Gone to Berlin" On the corner is a Cash Grocer, advertising McAlpin's Flour, Velvet Soap. In the background is a bus stop sign and housing that has been built since the demolition and sale of the former Cable Tram depot. Set of two Black and white negatives, by Wal Jack, of CW5 685 (City, Route 71) at the intersection of Warragul Road and Riversdale Road. The first photo shows two crewmen looking at the headlight on the tram. The second photo shows it is fitted with a war time head light mask and shows a crewman walking out of the building - a service station with Shell pumps. Above the tram on a pole is a tram signal for the single line operation between Warragul Road and the Wattle Park terminus. See also item 6771 for a photo of the pole itself. "The Association was officially launched in November 1967 with the aim of preserving and maintaining good relations and understanding within the cattle industry and between that industry and all bodies and organisations with which the industry is associated in the spheres of Government, and land use and marketing." (ref Mountain Cattlemen's Association web-site) Since 1972, the Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria, have produced a journal, “The Voice of the Mountains”. This journal commemorates the activities and history of the previous twelve months and bygone years of cattlemen and their families. This item was used in the library of Orbost Secondary College. The journals form a part of Victoria’s history and are a useful research tool.A 64 pp book covered in clear contact. On the front cover is a coloured photograph of two boys reading an unveiled plaque for Wally Ryder at Pretty Valley. The British Phosphate Commissioners (BPC) was a board of Australian, British, and New Zealand representatives who managed extraction of phosphate from Christmas Island, Nauru, and Banaba (Ocean Island) from 1920 until 1981. Captain S.G. Ellams Walter Harbord (Wal or Wally) (b.1923 in Brisbane-d.), master mariner in the Merchant Navy on British Phosphate Commission ships. George Garrett Kitching (1926 - 2005) was second mate on the following ships onboard which he records the events: MV Gorgon : 5-12-46 to16-1-48 SS Titan: 25-1-49 to 16-6-49 MV Orestes: 5-8-49 to 22-9-50 MV Astyanax: 28-4-51 to 7-5-51 (Coasting) MV Trienza: 8-4-53 to 9-10-53Walter was interviewed by the Australian at War Film Archive in 2003.
