It proposes to acquire the business of Glassop and Son, proprietors of Tassell Products, and may engage in inter-State and export trade. It is stated by the promoter that growers and small canners of pineapples fear that the industry may become monopolised and that the new company is being formed to combat any such tendency. TROVE : The Courier-Mail, Brisbane, Queensland Friday 29 December 1950, page 3, Article : Mr. Glassop dies A well-known Brisbane citizen. Mr. S. J. Glassop, 74, has died. He was founder and managing director of Tassell United Cannery, Pty., Ltd. For many years Mr. Glassop was associated with Messrs. R. W. Thurlow and Co., Ltd., Brisbane, and later left this firm to open his own business on the Darling Downs. He later returned to Brisbane to enter the manufacturing business.
