This is a manual hedge trimmer which has a push pull action. It is not a very common garden tool possibly a lot slower to use than clippers. It dates from mid 20th century.This is quite a rare tool.This tool is consists of a metal bar with a row of prongs attached . Used in the timber industry for making split palings. The palings are shaped by hand with the bottom edge put onto the timber and a mallet hit onto the top of the blade. This pre-dates sawn palings. Associated with the timber and household building industry in the Orbost region.A rectangular flat iron blade attached to a wooden handle. The logos on the breast pocket of these two blazers is CTS for Collingwood Technical School which dates from 1912 to 1969. From 1970 CTS changed its name to Collingwood Technical College.Two Collingwood Technical School blazers. Alice Anderson was a pioneering Australian female motor mechanic. These are important primary sources as they date the location and dates of operation of her garages in Kew. They also interestingly list her rates and charges. The original owner, Kathleen Hall, of the business cards was a personal acquaintance of Alice Anderson and this provides added historical significance and provenance.Three business cards used by Alice Anderson in promoting her Kew garage. Gives dates and reason for absence, and countersigned periodically by the District Inspector.It is significant because it lists the school staff for a long period. It is also socially significant because it gives information about staff training, health issues, family details and weather.
