The front and rear of the body had minor restyling, with new front grille, headlights and taillights. The interior has been significantly upgraded. Interior upgrade includes a new instrument panel, centre console and steering wheel and new design transmission lever and handbrake.[2] There is also a new mobile phone power outlet under the centre console. The new instrument cluster features a large multi-function digital display (single or triple-window, depending on model), which displays information such as radio station display, PRND321 gear selected indicator, trip computer with stopwatch function, service reminders and a help facility. Standard features (on some models) now include "twilight sentinel" - automatic headlamp control, programmable headlamps off time delay, high feature Blaupunkt audio systems, road-speed sensitive intermittent wipers and passenger airbags. This cookbook was produced by the Warrnambool and District Pipes and Drums, partly as a fund-raiser and partly as a promotional exercise. A Pipe Band was formed in Warrnambool in 1906 with twelve foundation members. Simon Fraser was the original Pipe Major and the band has had some changes of name since its foundation. The band was not operating for some time during the years of World War One and again during World War Two but today under the name of Warrnambool and District Pipes and Drums it performs at concerts, dinners, band competitions, official functions, street parades etc and has won both Victorian and interstate Championship titles. This book is of interest as an example of a fund-raising exercise by a local organization early in the 21st century. This is a soft-cover book of 94 pages. It is a cookery book published by the Warrnambool and District Pipes and Drums. It has a blue cover overlaid with plastic and is bound with plastic rings. Vathi is the main town of Ithaca where the municipal offices, local high school, medical centre and other services are located. It is one of the most natural ports in Greece. Ferries from the mainland used to dock at Vathi however, now arrive at the port of Piso Aetos. In middle of the harbour is the tiny islet of Lazaretos where the church of Ag Sotiros (the Saviour) stands. During the period of English rule, Lazaretos functioned as a quarantine station. The buildings erected by the British later served as a prison. However these were destroyed during the earthquakes of 1953 and later demolished. Sir Frederic W. Hewitt (1857-1916), an accomplished and well respected English anesthesiologist, was an expert in the function and use of the Clover Ether Inhaler. In 1901, Hewitt described his modification of the Clover Inhaler. Often referred to as the Hewitt Wide-Bore Inhaler, Dr. Hewitt introduced changes in order to make it easier to breathe through the device and improve the ventilation of oxygen and carbon dioxide. In 1901, Hewitt was recruited to anesthetize King Edward VII for emergency abdominal surgery. This was just a day or so before the new King was to be coronated. Catafalque party members were traditionally invited to an after service function. The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles was raised as a regiment of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps on 1 May 1948 with Headquarters in Melbourne and squadrons in Sale, Benalla/Wangaratta and Albury. In 1955 Regimental Headquarters moved to Wangaratta and a second squadron was located at Albury. The Sale squadron transferred to 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse. In 1995, the upper school students from Bulla Primary School attended a camp at Hanging Rock Reserve which is part of the Macedon Ranges. At this camp the students were shown basic rock climbing skills and explored the rock for its interesting geological formations. Hanging Rock, also known as Mount Diogenes, is the traditional land of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Woi Wurrung and Taungurung people. It is a mamelon formed when magma poured from a vent and congealed. There are interesting rock functions at the site such as the Colonnade, the Eagle and the UFO. The highest point on the rock is 718metres above sea level and 105 meters above the land at its base.Hanging Rock is an important geological and volcanic structure in the Macedon Ranges area and in central Victoria. The photo shows a group of Legatees who attended the Legacy Club Conference held in Perth in September 1948. The three men at the front are Legatees Stan Savige on left and Bill Perrin in the centre. Other names are not known. Legatee Bill Perrin had been President in 1945 and had just been elected to succeed Legatee Savige as the Chairman of the Co-ordinating Council. The Legacy conference was held periodically and allowed Legatees from across Australia to gather together. The aim of the annual conference was an exchange of ideas and methods of carrying out Legacy functions, and to form general policy for cooperation between clubs and groups.These men were some of the founders and early members of Legacy throughout Australia and had fought in the first World War. Story by Cdr Ashley Brown, officer of the watch about an attack by Japanese aircraft on the HMAS Austrlia May 7, 1942. Also an account of an accidental bombing of the ship by the United States Airforce. It was part of a series of articles called 'The War I saw' published in the Herald Sun newspaper. Date unknown. This document was from a file of information about guest speakers (see also 00812-00822 and 00830-00837). So it is assumed that Cdr Ashley-Brown was approached to speak at a Legacy function. Legatees met regularly and had guest speakers to entertain and inform on different subjects at their Tuesday Luncheons. A widows' function, that involved a raffle, (some of the same ladies are in 00654 and 00655). The lady drawing the raffle is Inez Bruce / President, and the lady holding the prize may be Joan Miller. The photo was featured in the July 1992 Widows Newsletter and explains the day was the 'Great Tea Party' in June 1992 when the widows rooms were opened after 9 months of renovations. Cakes were donated by Fergusson Plarre. In the 1990s Legacy was supported by generous donations from Fergusson Plarre Bakehouse with cakes often donated for events and the annual fete. The photograph was included in an exhibition organised by the former Sunbury & District Heritage Association in March 2001. The red-brick Federation building for Sunbury State School No. 1002 in Macedon Street opened on 2nd May 1912. It replaced an earlier building that was on the same site. It originally had two classrooms and an office but as Sunbury's population began to grow another room was added. The school continued to function in Macedon Street until 1999 when it took occupancy of refurbished rooms at the former Industrial School in the Asylum Grounds at Jascksons Hill. The building in Macedon Street has been incorporated into the Sunbury and Cobar Community Health Centre. The Community Centre was built in the early 1950’s as an all-purpose hall for the social and recreational use of the workers and families employed on the Victorian state government Kiewa Hydro-electric scheme. The hall was originally called Mt Beauty Recreation Centre and later changed to Mt Beauty Community Centre. It has been the heart of the community for over 65 years and had a heritage listing put on it around the year 2000. The Alpine Shire secured a heritage grant and the hall was restored to its former glory in 2000. In heritage circles it is claimed that the hall is the best example of a 1950’s construction town community hall, which is still functioning anywhere in AustraliaThe Community Centre was and is a very important part of life in the small remote community of Mount Beauty and a range of activities have taken place in the Community Centre over the past 65 years- Picture theatre; Dances and balls; A physical education and boxing club run by Alex McCollough for 30 years; School and social club concerts; Girls gymnastics; Drama group productions, revues and pantomimes; Callisthetics and ballet; Badminton; Wedding receptions and birthday parties; Music festival events; Staging area in times of natural disaster; The library for many years; Shire and community meetings; Secondary College gymnasium for many years and shelter for the Community Market in inclement weather 1 – 1972 specifications for colour scheme of original Mt Beauty Recreation centre, Typed on buff foolscap paper with small colour swatches and letter of explanation to Mr A.J. An original group of plans drawn by Walter Butler who was also the architect of the Central Institute, Siddeley Street in 1906 and the Mission to Seamen building at 717 Flinders St that is still in use today. The early Port Melbourne onshore Mission gradually transformed from a 'wooden shack' to a one storey brick building designed by architect Frederick Williams in 1888. The St Nicholas chapel was added in 1915. Walter Butler was commissioned to add a second storey in 1917. The building retained its functions until 1937 when the Art Deco Mission, designed by Morris was built. The building has survived as a structure into the 21st century, and was incorporated as part of a multi-apartment development. Historical architectural record of Walter Butler's work. These items were in the Ballarat School of Mines Museum, and when the museum was closed they were saved from the tip, and returned decades later. The Alafolo or afui are anthropomorphic clubs found across the island of Malaita. As war clubs, blows were struck with the edges of the club, which varied in length from under three to four feet. At least some of these clubs served a largely ceremonial function, particularly those rare examples with shell inlay. Malaitans war clubs are usually made of tooa, a reddish hardwood. Most finished clubs are submerged in mud (saltwater or fresh) for about a month, during which time they acquire a glossy black finish.Two native weapons, probably South Pacific in origin. .1) light coloured timber paddle with carving.
