Copy of a menu for a Christmas dinner held in 1945. The dinner was held by the Signals Unit, Air Headquarters (Operations) of the British Air Forces of Occupation, Bad Eilsen, Germany. This appears to be a colour photocopy of the original menu and the reverse has been autographed by a number of the dinner attendees. -

This is believed to be a trench art paper knife. The knife is fashioned from copper, probably the copper driving band removed from an artillery projectile. The handle and blade are engraved. Knife, Butter
This is a trench art butter knife. The handle is made of a plated spent bullet cartridge and the blade is made from brass. The blade is engraved with a delicate pattern which is quite worn. On one side are the words "Souvenir France". The cartridge is the type used by the German Mauser and is stamped with a manufacturing date of 1918. Collection of photographs which were the property of Ronald Keith Churches, service number VX34599, who was a Sergeant in the Australian Army 2/9th Field Ambulance Unit during World War 2. Churches enlisted on the 12th July, 1940 and was discharged on the 4th December, 1945. The 2/9th FA was formed on the 1st July, 1940 at Dandenong, Victoria and was initially based at Seymour (Puckapunyal). The 2/9th FA relocated to Bonegilla in September 1940 and embarked for Singapore in February, 1941. The men of the unit were taken prisoner by the Japanese in February, 1942. Churches spent the remainder of World War 2 as a POW in Changi Prison. -

Pennant, Victory Day 1946
Between 8th and 10th June there were celebrations in England celebrating the first anniversary of the end of WWII. Similar celebrations were held in Australian towns and cities.Pennant produced for the Victory Day Celebrations, June 10th, 1946. This triangular pennant is made from a dark blue wool felt cloth with two loops attached to the fly. The pennant is marked with insignia and wording associated with the first anniversary 'V' day celebrations in 1946.Inscribed with a large, white letter V with "victory" in side and in red lettering, surrounded by a "laurel" wreath. Inscribed with "Victory Day" in white lettering, "Celebrations" in alternating gold and orange lettering, and "June 10th 1946" in white lettering. pennant, victory celebrations -

Vietnam era SLR maintenance and cleaning kit in a green canvas holdall. It has a waxed coating, including the ties. The kit includes a pull through, a brush, a phial of oil and a metal adjustment tool. Each item is stored in its own individual pocket. (see also item 00092). -

Collection, A.C. Hill
Collection of items, including documents and photographs, relating to the World War 1 Australian Army service of Private Alfred Charles Hill. A.C. Hill enlisted on 14th April, 1916 at the age of 44 years and 6 months. He lived in Frankston, Victoria and was married to Charlotte Eliza. He served with the 2nd Pioneer Battalion and embarked from Melbourne on the 28th July, 1916 on the HMAT Thermistocles (ship A32). He was in England and France briefly, returning to Australia on 22nd July, 1917 and discharged on the 5th November, 1917 as medically unfit. Hill was involved with the formation of the Frankston RSL Sub Branch in 1918/1919 and was Sub Branch Treasurer from 1919 'til 1923. see following items 00325.1 to 00325.8 -

Medallion
A medallion presented to Private A. C. Hill by the citizens of Frankston, Victoria. These medallions were presented to local men who enlisted for service as they departed to World War 1 by the "Citizens and Patriotic Committee". The medallion has a gold finish and has an olive wreath around the circumference. A small loop is provided to attach the medallion to a chain or similar. In this case the medallion is attached to a fob watch chain commonly worn by men when dressed in a jacket. (refer item 00325).One side of the medallion is inscribed: "A. Used as ceremonial headress of "other ranks" in the RAAF, with awith oxidised brass other rank's cap badge, which is not attached.RAAF blue wool barathea forage cap with holes on left hand side (the normal oxidised brass other rank's cap badge is not attached) to the front left side and pair of black plastic RAAF buttons on the front. The crown opening has been sewn up with large black running stitches in heavy black thread. Framed collection consisting of a large number of World War 1 era military badges and insignia from Australia, New Zealand, Britain and other countries. The collection features a set of three medals as the centrepiece which were awarded to an Australian serviceman, Acting Warrant Officer Alwin Stevens Nicholas, service number 4752 of the 3rd Australian General Hospital, Australian Medical Corp, A.I.F. The metal badges and insignia are mounted on a black felt cloth background over a wooden backing and housed in a wooden frame. This photograph shows one of the many weddings held at the Mission to Seafarers over the years and provides an overview of wedding fashion of the late 1920s. The bridesmaids were Ella Kendall and Molly Walker. In this image a horse and cart can be seen in the background on Flinders St and a Telegraph pole. Dora would continue association with the Mission and as president of the Flying angels in the 1960s-70s she would be awarded the MBE for services to Community presented by the State Governor of Victoria. This photograph shows one of the many weddings performed at the Mission to Seafarers over the years. Cross referencing with the marriage registers, also held in the collection, reveals that this photograph is Amy Dora Walker (known as Dora) of East Malvern marrying Harold Priestley Simpson of Surrey Hills / Mornington on 14 February 1928. Dora's son David Simpson, a former architect still volunteers for the Mission in 2018. Dora is listed on the Women of achievement listing.Sepia toned photograph of bride and attendants in the courtyard of the Mission to Seafarers. The bride's dress is calf length and she has just stepped out of a large car assisted by her Father Mr Walker. The Bride is holding a large bouquet. There are two attendants or Bridesmaids to the right of the photograph, wearing layered calf length dresses, cloche hats and holding a small bouquet.
