This work was originally published in serialised form in the Bathurst Free Press around the turn of the century by Charles White and afterwards syndicated to other newspapers and still later reached the galley-proof stage of publication. The text for this edition was obtained from a copy of the Ovens Register 1904-1905, held by the Burke Museum, Beechworth, Victoria.
