Five earth rings which are thought to be associated with male initiation ceremonies have been identified in Sunbury. Only 3 others have been found in the rest of Victoria. Letter to Melbourne Postmaster from William ______ about an advertisement (1860) - 3 copies 3. Two page letter from John Papineau of Sandy Creek to the Surveyor General regarding gazetting of land for a racecourse 3 miles from Newbridge next to the Loddon, and further gazetting to protect cemetery area at Tarnagulla from gold miners. (August 1859) Original may be in Lands Dept - 2 copies 4. Letter from the Postmaster Sandy Creek to same at Melbourne regarding daily mail despatch times (March 1860) - 3 copies 5. This item was used by the Sunbury Racing Club on 25th November 1941at a horse race meeting held at the Sunbury Race Course. It was issued upon payment of a fee by a Bookmaker on the day to gain entrance to the Saddling Paddock to be able to conduct his business. Mr. E. Boardman was Secretary of the racing club at this time. The Sunbury Racecourse was situated along Racecourse Road and was in operation for many years.Tan coloured ticket book held together by two staples and numbered 2 - 70. Three quarters of the ticket stubs have been pulled out. Each ticket that has been pulled out has a name of the attendee written in pencil and an auditor stamp. In recognition of the support of the VATC President Sullivan presented a plaque to VATC Acting chairman Mr Geoff Bellmaine at a Tuesday luncheon. VATC is the Victorian Amateur Racing Club.
