In 2005 Dr Joe Toscano was instrumental in establishing the Eureka Australia Day Medal. Since then over 70 Australians whose life reflects the sentiments outlined in the Eureka oath – “We swear by the Southern Cross to stand truly by each other and fight to defend our rights and liberties”, whose name would NEVER appear in the traditional honours list have been acknowledged for the work they have done to improve the lives of people in our community.Joe Toscano speaks at the microphone on teh occasion of Clare Gervasoni (centre) receiving the Eureka Australia Day Medal. Rectangular in shape, consists of three grating sections connected by hinges. Right section consists of tiny holes, left section has larger holes, and the middle has two crescent shaped holes. The two outer panels have handles at the top.

There is a wooden seat halfway up the visible steps, to the right of the steps. There are three signs attached to a tree on the right side of the photo near the creek. There are two men, a young boy and a woman standing together in the middle ground and two younger women closer to the camera, standing beside a cart (with only a large cartwheel visible). There may be another man speaking to them. There is a path going up the hill to the right, with fence posts on the high side and a closed gate at the top. On the left of the photo there is a house below the road. There are two water tanks which look new. It may be the same house as appears in other photos in this collection. Another building is visible in the distance.

Road from Belgrave to Monbulk. A woman stands on the road holding a stick. There is a creeper growing on the verge. Tall treeferns surround a house on the right side, below the road. The house has a verandah extending all the way around. There is smoke coming from a chimney which may be on the visible house or from one behind. c.1920.

Belgrave Railway Bridge seen from near railway line on the east side. Photo shows the bridge over a scrubby railway cutting. There are small trees. A truck is parked on the right side of the bridge and perpendicular to the bridge. To the right is a building, presumably US Motors. A sign visible on right end of the bridge is also visible on VSSHP0069.02.

The photo is mounted in a fancy frame. Dated 1913.

The original postcard has three patches where the surface is missing.
