The 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, USA were the tenth edition of the Summer Paralympics. It was the first Paralympic Games where International Sports Federation for Persons with an Intellectual Disability athletes were given full medal status. This badge includes a flame motif representing the phoenix, which was a symbol of this edition of the Paralympics. A special luncheon was held for World War I widows as a lead up to "Legacy Week". Legatees dressed up as waiters to add a bit of humour to the day. They would sing for the ladies, Legatee Eddie Jowett is helping lead the singing. Due to its success it was held for a number of years. Legatee waiters included Lucky Luscombe and George Woodward. President David Millie is seen speaking to the ladies. A history of the first 100 years of the Ringwood Garden Club Inc 1896-1996

A regular event for the widows was a Christmas concert at the Melbourne Town Hall. Often the performers were the RAAF Central Band. Held in December each year. The photos show President Ray Ward presenting flowers to Elaine Ward, Gwen Gunn and another lady. Usually the concert was the time the Widows Clubs presented Legacy with funds raised through their fundraising each year - in this case $15,500 - and the president acknowledges with flowers. The RAAF Central Band was conducted by Sq. Ldr. Graham Lloyd, and Rozanne Dew also performed. A regular event for the widows was a Christmas concert at the Melbourne Town Hall. Often the performers were the RAAF Central Band. Held in December each year. Usually the concert was the time the Widows Clubs presented Legacy with funds raised through their fundraising each year - in this case $21,000 - and the president acknowledges with flowers. The article mentions that over 1,800 widows came together for the concert despite the rain and bad weather. The RAAF Central Band was conducted by Sq. Ldr.
