Harold James Thomas Johnson TX3956 enlisted on 25.7.1940, aged 37. Served with the 7th Division Ammunition Supply Coy A.A.S.C as a driver. He was discharged om 30.11.1945 with the rank of L/Cpl. .1) Letter is to 'Dear Mrs Johnson". The contents of the note relate to the writer picking up the note which was thrown over the side of the Queen Mary and they picked it up form the water and later posted it on. .2) Note torn in half from "TX3956 B Section 7 DIV AMN COY 2nd AIF ABROAD" To "Mrs H. JOHNSON HOLLAND HOUSE WILMOT ST BURNIE TASMANIA, Husband on Queen Mary Everything okay, Love Harold". This is believed to be the note thrown overboard in .1). .3) The letter from H, Johnson is to "Brooks McGlashan & ?? PTY LTD", thanking them for parcels received VIA the Aust. Comforts Fund. Point .1) on the rear has three handwritten names in pencil: "TX3930, Thomas Charles Munn, 7th AFG Brighton" "TX3422, Pte. K.V. Photograph - Huf grave folder, 1919 circa
The folder containing the photograph of Sergeant Huf's grave in Egypt was sent to his father. The card is inscribed 'Cpl' but Huf had been promoted to Sergeant just prior to his wounding and evacuation from Gallipoli on HMT "Royal George". He died of his wounds at sea and was buried in Egypt. This folder was part of a collection of items donated to Albury RSL by his surviving sister Miss Edna Huf of Albury about 1970 and passed to the 8/13th VMR Collection. Part of a unique collection of items relating to a single Australian soldier who died in the Gallipoli campaign, WWI, and kept by a sibling till close to her death and passed to a local military collection for keeping.Green-grey heavy paper folder containing photograph of grave marker of 533 Sergeant CW Huf 7th Battalion AIF who died of wounds sustained at Gallipoli on 13 May 1915. The photographs capture the local, regional, and state’s shared relationships developed through agriculture and the importance of farming and husbandry to the population and development of Australia. Army Uniform, lanyard, Fletcher Jones & Staff, 1990s
Worn as part of a uniform, attached to the right shoulder of a jacket with the loose end in the right breast pocket. This jacket was worn by Bernie Farley, of the 8th/7th Battalion, Royal Victorian Regiment. This lanyard has social significance, being owned and worn by Secretary of the Warrnambool RSL, Bernie Farley. The lanyard was donated as part of a uniform set by Bernie Farley after 30 years of service in both the Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force. Though worn in the 1990s, this uniform is in excellent condition as a representative example of an Army uniform of the period.Brown and white candy-striped cord lanyard with two loops knotted at either end; one knot has been looped around the lanyard to form an arm hole. It was sponsored by the Timber Industry.Orbost has historically been based on the timber industry, but that industry has declined considerably over the last 20 years. The number of locals involved in the timber industry has declined and these balls are no longer held. Community balls and dances are becoming rarer as more home entertainment is available and musical tastes have changed. A programme from the Annual Demonstration held at the Olympic Pool Stadium Friday 7th October and Saturday 8th October 1960. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and eurythmics, the Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to the 1980's, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall or Olympic Pool Stadium.
