Administrative record - Text, RVIB Ocean Grove Auxiliary, 1944-2005
The Ocean Grove RVIB Auxiliary formed on July 31, 1944. This collection of papers includes the minute books from 1944 until 2002 and printed minutes from 2002 to the conclusion of the Auxiliiary in 2004. The papers include newspaper clippings, correspondence, secretary and annual reports, 1999-2005 syllabus (list of events), lists of office bearers and balance sheets. A signboard for the Auxiliary's kiosk in 1951, a poem from the last President Dot Whitehead and the acknowledgement letter from RVIB regarding the Auxiliary's final donation and decision to conclude are also here. Document - M. Symons' Murpheys Creek Exercise Book
Land was first selected at Murphy's Flat in 1865. The first Wesleyan church was built in 1866 and from 1869 this was used as State School 149. A purpose built school, No. 1311 opened mid 1876. The areas name was changed to Murphy's Creek in 1915.A blue and white exercise book. Attached within are various subscription receipts in the front and back, including the "Australian Home Journal," "Singer Sewing Machine Company," and an "Annual Audit of Depositors' Pass-books by the State Savings Bank of Australia. Also included in approximately half the book are handwritten record of correspondence notes in blue ink, many regarding sewing from 1949-1956.The Shell Exercise Book. Name: M. Archive - Bendigo Symphony Orchestra
Bendigo Concert Orchestra played in 1944. Jean Boulton and Myrtle Robbins were early members with Ruth Weldon. Earlier there was a Railway institute Orchestra. The Orchestra met in various venues finally in St Mary's Hall where they began as the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra. Conductors remembered were Oscar Flight(?) Gwen Bowles, Max O'Loughlin. The Orchestra supported the Operatic Society see two books by Merle Welch. Letter from E. Lawrence, Sec of Court Victoria, dated June 8th 1877 in reference to the illness of Br C. Weyland who is the Melbourne Hospital. It is mentioned that he was good on the books. At the end is a letter from Wm Rowe, Sect of Court King of the Forest saying that C Weyland was considered an unfinancial member as the Court have not received any money from him or for him for the past 12 months. Letter is from the auditors congratulating the Court on the steady increase of Members during the past quarter. Letter written on white paper to the Chief Ranger, Court King of the Forest from Matthew Burke and dated January 31/1872. Matthew had been accused of being illegally on the Court funds. He wrote the letter saying he was being treated by the doctor. The doctor told him to go on the funds as he was not fit for work. He also says he has never been bad on the books yet.
