Leather belt with souvenir badges from L to R: AMF collar badge, brass plate with crown and bird badges attached, brass map of Australia enclosed by a serrated circle, Australian Red Cross Society button, silver boomerang with brass map of Australia, brass "Australia" shoulder badge with circular aluminium(?) disc above, US Army 147th Field Artillery Regiment Unit Crest, crossed cannons with 147 above, brass tab, musicians badge, AMF collar badge, Major's crown, laurel leaves with what appears to be TCB in script above, crossed rifles, star with what appears to be a lotus flower (Japanese?), AMF button, Major's crown, what appears to be a red S inside a white circle.Circular aluminium disc has Pte M Cain VX6341 AIF faintly engraved on it. -

Anti Gas Respirator, 12AUG38
Respirator, Anti-Gas, General Civilian, Type C1:Civilian, British. Respirator thin black rubber mask, made of a single piece folded around into a tapering tube with the join sealed by a brown cloth patch. Plain cardboard box for a respirator (also used as a carrier), inside the box is a card insert with a large hole cut in the centre, on the inside of the lid are instructions for packing a respirator (From Imperial War Museum website) The rubber has perished and the straps are no longer able to be attached to the headpiece. 12 8 38, POPPE LOT 2984 -

Piece of cloth cut from a DAK (Deutches Afrika Korps) field cap with insignia. The insignia are a German eagle with swastika above a red? stripe above a brown, black, white and red roundel. The red? stripe is faded and could denote either the General Staff, Panzers or Artillery. -

Equipment - Belt, Imperial Japanese Navy sword belt, Circa 1940's
Belt issued to Japanese Naval Officers up until the end of WW2Black leather belt with a two piece brass buckle. The centre of the buckle has an embossed anchor and lotus flower and the two parts of the buckle appear to have been gilded. It comes with a black leather sword hanger which has brass clips at each end. One end is missing the brass securing rivet whilst the rivet at the other end has a hook attached to it. Attached to this hook is a brass S shaped snake with a brass ring around the body. The inside of the belt has four eyelets and a hook on each end to allow for adjustment. It's missing one sword hanger, a belt loop on the LH side and two loops on the inside that the hangers attach to.world war 2, japanese navy -

Black metal helmet with an adjustable leather inner which has perished a little and a leather chin strap with what appears to be an aluminium buckle and two aluminium studs. The helmet has been painted at some stage and has had what appears to be black electrical tape applied to it in a random pattern.The left hand side has the German eagle with swastika (Parteiadler) without the laurel leaves around the swastika. -

Functional object - Letter Opener, Circa 1918
Made by Albert Henry Rogers who served in the British Army during WW1, the grandfather of the donor. It was made as a symbol of hope as receiving letters from home gave them hope. Hence the bullet made into a letter opener is a symbol of something made to kill into something to give hope. (Transcribed from the donor's description)Small letter opener consisting of a handle made from a .303 bullet and a blade made from an unknown metal. The projectile has been split in half lengthways and the blade soldered in. The markings on the cartridge indicate that it is a Mk VII cartridge manufactured by the Royal Laboratory in 1917.Both sides of the blade have decorative engraving on them. The left side has "ARRAS" engraved on it and the right side has "1918 YPRES" engraved on it. The base of the cartridge is marked R^L 17 and VII.ypres, arras, world war 1 -

Ebonised framed print', Menin Gate at Midnight, 1927
Will Longstaff painted the original oil on canvas in Greater London -United Kingdom in 1927. The Menin Gate commemorates soldiers with no marked graves killed on the Western Front during the 1st World War. It is a dedication to the 350,000 men of the British Empire Forces who died on battle grounds around Ypres in Belgium.
