Robert Green advised by email 20-1-2018: "The tram in Russell Street was unveiled by the Premier, R J Hamer, on 1 May 1975. The ceremony was attended by F R Kirby, the Chairman of the M&MTB, and the Chairman (Judge Leckie) and Director (R H Fowler) of the Science Museum of Victoria." Newspaper clipping, 1/11/1922 (subject to checking) from The Australasian titled "Protecting the Gripman" showing an illustration of a proposal for weather protection for Gripman. Adam Chandler advised by email 5/8/2020: " note there's a destination box fitted to the grip - from memory, these started to be used from the mid-1920s with the dummy and trailer repaints into the brown colour? That also looks to be either a 1925 or 26 Buick - the "moustache" shape at the top of the front radiator grille and the distinctly angled lower sash of the windscreen are further hints. Given the Richmond line closed in 1927 for conversion I'd say some time between 1924 and 29 June 1927." The first shows a horse pulling a bogie tram trailer into the car house while the second shows the grip being pushed in by hand. Compact Diskette in a paper envelope with a video made from film taken by Neville Govett with voice over by Robert Green. With the CD are a photocopy of notes provided by Neville at the time of production on the sources, how made, when and that a copy had gone to the TMSV c1980. Has explanations on how the cable system worked, shunting of tramcars, views of the cars operating in Bourke and other streets, the Gertrude and Nicholson St powerhouse and other features. The last sheet (i6) - copy of an article written by Lorna Hanna, niece to Neville, wrote for the March 2013 issue of the North and West Melbourne News, with particular notes on the North Melbourne route and its operation. CD is a copy of an original held by Robert, provided by Robert on 26/7/2014 in time for the Melbourne Open House Day. Published shortly after or at the time of the launch of the tram in the enclosure in Russell St. The additional sheet with the book provides details for each route of route, the location of the city terminus, suburban terminus, running time, night light, route length, first and last car for each day of the week.
