"Heatherlie " homes have been extended and are still operated under the auspices of the Uniting Church Australia. Invitation retained by Absalom family members for 44 years. "Heatherlie" name originated from owners of wooden house built by EB Phillips, furniture store owner. This file contains four items about the history of the church: 1/Typed letter dated 17/05/1977 from Mrs. C. Fergusson for the Murrumbeena United Church to accompany Item 2. 2/Four original copies plus a photocopy of ‘St. Giles Presbyterian Church Murrumbeena (An Outline of Sixty-five Years of Progress) 1890-1955’. These include lists of clergy, significant congregational members etc. One of the books is noted ‘Doble’ on the cover, as sent by Allan Doble in Item 3. 3/Handwritten letter dated 15/01/1999 from Allen Doble which accompanied one of the books at Item 2. This letter includes information on Dr Seymour, first Minister at St. Giles. Rectangular black wool crepe lined stock with stiffened collar. The stock has three pleats either side of three small black buttons.presbyterian moderator, clerical clothing

The foundation stone for the new church was laid by the then Prime Minister, Mr R G Menzies, in 1953. The tender of 13,300 pounds submitted by Mr R S Grills was accepted in 1952. Work was completed in November 1958. The cost of the carpets was met by the Ladies' Guild and the windows in the children's chapel were given in memory of the Rev T W Leggatt by members of his family. The bible is signed by the Moderator, Secretary and Moderators from 1979-2001Brown leather covered bible with 1377 gilt edged pages in a green box. The bible has green leather end papers. The spine, which is faded, has gilt embossed text. There is a dedication inside the bible."THE UNITING CHURCH IN AUSTRALIA. This bible was used at the first meeting of the SYNOD OF TASMANIA held in Launceston 28th-30th October, 1977.
