Handwritten extracts on a boiler explosion at Lansell & Muellers Comet Mine. 'Everything had been alright and there was plenty of water in the glass. When the boiler exploded it damaged a small part of the engine-house and tore the flue from end to end. In 1882 Rosa was invited to illustrate The Forest Flora of South Australia by John Ednie Brown. Nine parts of this work, which was never completed, were published in 1882-90. Article on the history of Ferdinand von Mueller. He arrived in Adelaide in 1847 (had a PhD from Kiel University). He came to Melbourne in 1853 and was appointed the State's first official botanist. He was the first white man to climb Mt Buller and Mt Buffalo. Apart from his activities with the Melbourne Botanical Gardens he was Government Botanist for 43 years.
