Photograph of "Marble Hall", Greensborough. The Marble Hotel, Greensborough was located at the corner of Main Street and Para Road. The first licensed hotel in Greensborough and one of the earliest brick buildings was built by James Chapman in the early 1850s as a hotel and lodging house to cater for wood carters and those trying their luck at the gold fields but served many functions over the years including post office, general store, public hall, butchers, bakers, surgery, private dwelling and baby health care centre. It got its name due to its white washed exterior. Harold Fraser and family ran the Bundoora general store in the 1950s. Photographs from the collection of Shirley Fraser (nee Black). The Blacks were substantial landowners in the area.Shows the transition from 'corner store' in house at front to 'supermarket' at rear of premises. 2 black and white photographs of the general store and Post Office at Bundoora. Portland Post Office Clock. Case is apparently new.Large mantle clock made from dark wood. Front door has a large glass pane with roman numerals in gold affixed to interior of glass. Brass arms and some of workings of clock visible through the door.Front: PORTLAND ROTARY CLUB INC. This original Portland Post Office clock, dated 1882, was fully restored and presented to the Portland City Council by Rotarian Norm Middleton on 20 September 1993.
