Photo of a worker bringing in a log on a dray with what appear to be narrow steel wheels. Dray is being pulled by eight or ten steers or small bullocks. Heavy bush and tall, straight timber on side of the road. Most likely Sherbrooke Forest. Road bends to left behind team then possibly to the right, going up a small rise. The man could be well-known bullocky Bill Martin. He is dressed in a wellworn hat, a pale shirt with sleeves rolled up, and darker pants, and is carrying a long, slender stick or possibly a whip in his right hand.

Photo of Jacob's Ladder in Sherbrooke Forest. Looks to be water under the bridge at the bottom of the photo. Very steep wooden steps going up through ferns. There is a wooden seat halfway up the visible steps, to the right of the steps. There are three signs attached to a tree on the right side of the photo near the creek. The sun is shining on the ferns.

Groups of people are standing on Monbulk Road, up from Belgrave. In the background are four women abreast walking away. There are two men, a young boy and a woman standing together in the middle ground and two younger women closer to the camera, standing beside a cart (with only a large cartwheel visible). There may be another man speaking to them. There is a path going up the hill to the right, with fence posts on the high side and a closed gate at the top. On the left of the photo there is a house below the road. There are two water tanks which look new. It may be the same house as appears in other photos in this collection. Another building is visible in the distance.

Road from Belgrave to Monbulk. A woman stands on the road holding a stick. There is a creeper growing on the verge. Tall treeferns surround a house on the right side, below the road. The house has a verandah extending all the way around. There is smoke coming from a chimney which may be on the visible house or from one behind. c.1920.

Belgrave Railway Bridge seen from near railway line on the east side. Photo shows the bridge over a scrubby railway cutting. There are small trees. A truck is parked on the right side of the bridge and perpendicular to the bridge. To the right is a building, presumably US Motors. A sign visible on right end of the bridge is also visible on VSSHP0069.02.

William Hermon Snr, dressed in a loose dark three-piece suit, pale shirt and dark hat, is standing to the right of the image. He carries a long bullocky's whip over his right shoulder. Another man in waistcoat and shirtsleeves and a pale, wide-brimmed hat stands beside him. A third man in suit and hat stands behind the team. There is a post and rail fence which then becomes a picket fence in front of a treed area, and then a large weatherboard building which is apparently the Centre Hotel (now Middle Hotel?) in Upper Ferntree Gully. The photo is mounted in a fancy frame. Dated 1913.

B&W postcard sent to Jean Hermon's mother, Jane Beazley. It shows two men standing on a railway jigger and a third man in front of them, seated on a small three-wheeled vehicle on the track. All are dressed in hats, waistcoat, trousers and shirts. The railway line passes through thick bush. 'Narrow Gauge Rly. Gembrook' is printed at the bottom right corner. The original postcard has three patches where the surface is missing.

The woman on the right who is most likely Cissie, is sitting astride the bike, holding the handlebars. She is possibly wearing a peaked cap. She has a long knitted jacket over a pale blouse, and a medium coloured skirt which is rucked up by the bike's petrol tank, showing her right leg from the knee down. She has dark stockings and what appear to be medium-heeled, laced shoes with a high shine. The woman on the left is sitting sideways on the pillion seat, with her arms loosely around the first woman's waist. She is wearing a cloche-style hat, a dark knitted v-necked cardigan or jumper, a light-coloured, mid-calf-length skirt, dark stockings and dark shoes with large buckles. Her legs are crossed at the ankles. Both women are smiling at the camera. The windscreen of a sidecar is visible. They are in a cleared paddock with a wire fence and trees in the background. n.d.
