.1 - Report Foolscap 6 typed pages, multiple diagrams and tables (some on heat sensitive paper) with card covers, with red binding strips, titled "Comparison between service requirements using two bogie trams and a mixed fleet of three bogie articulated trams and two bogie trams for Kew Depot routes", dated June 1965. Includes diagrams of passengers each hour for multiple stops. Concludes that crew and tram savings would be in excess of 20%. Report - Foolscap 6 typed pages, multiple diagrams and tables (some on heat sensitive paper) with card covers, with red binding strips, titled "East Preston depot routes - comparison between service requirements using two bogie trams and a mixed fleet of three bogie articulated trams and two bogie trams" Dated September 1965. Includes diagrams of passengers each hour for multiple stops. Concludes that for the East Preston route, a 20% saving in crews. Yields information about the considerations of State Cabinet of a proposal by the SEC to close a Bendigo tram line and thoughts to move the tramways from the SEC to MMTB Management.Newspaper clipping from the Ballarat Courier - 9/6/1953, titled "Cabinet stops tram move" reporting that state cabinet had vetoed the SEC's proposal to cease tram operations between Charing Cross and Golden Square from July 6. Quotes the Acting Premier Mr. Garvin. Follows a mass meeting of tramway employees the previous Sunday. Item notes that the Govt was planning to re-organise the SEC and the trams are likely to come under the control of the MMTB, or the Transport Board. On rear of cutting is an item about trains services in Melbourne being restored following the Jolimont dispute and that the MMTB were to run more peak period trams. Photo taken 28/6/1966, published 29/6/1966. Has Frampton's Milk bar in the left hand side of the photo with a Peters ad, workers recovering bottles. Note the milk in the grooves of the track. Would appear tram was inbound with destination of Gardens via Drummond St. Nth, member of the crew reversing the tram to assist in the clean up, with an inspector at the far end. This is for single track compared to about $1.9m/km in Melbourne for double track.
