Set of black and white photographs - Athletics sports, Ballarat Junior Technical School Sports Day
Ballarat Junior Technical School moved to the new building in 1921. The grounds were cleared, terraced and planted out. Another area below the terraces was known aas White Flat. This was cleared and became the oval for the school allowing for all sporting activities to be carried out.Set of photographs showing sports day, Ballarat Junior Technical School. Area used is White Flat Oval which was completed as a playing ground in 1925 -

Warrnambool Rowing Club held regattas on the Hopkins River from about 1885. This was initially over a weekend in conjunction with Colac Rowing Club. Hamilton Rowing Club started a regatta after Colac moved theirs to the Barwon in Geelong. These photographs were taken at a RASvy Corps Formal Dinner at the Army Survey Regiment in 1966. The formal dinner commemorated the 50th Year Jubilee anniversary of the Royal Australian Survey Corps’ formation. Known personnel in the photographs were Brigadier Don Macdonald AM, Director of the Survey Corps and LTCOL Frank Buckland OBE, who was the CO of the Army Survey Regiment. The 50th year Jubilee Dinner silver bowl often appeared as a centrepiece in Officer’s Mess functions.These six black and white photographs were taken at a RASvy Corps Formal Dinner at the Army Survey Regiment in 1966. The photographs were printed on photographic paper and are part of the Army Survey Regiment’s Collection. Fortuna Villa is associated with the 180 Mine on the New Chum Reef. Historically ‘Fortuna’ is significant for the record it provides from 1855 to 1871 of Christopher and Theodore Ballerstedt, Australia’s first mining magnates and from 1871 to 1935 of the Lansell family, George Lansell (The Quartz King) being one of Australia’s most successful and adventurous nineteenth century gold mine owners and speculators. The photo album depict the ornamental lake, garden, Roman bath and Pompeii fountain, all features of the house. Bound blue cloth family photo album. Nineteen brown card 'pages' each with photograph adhered to both sides.
