Sir Zelman Cowan was Governor General of Australia, December 1977-July 1982. The 8/13 VMR Light Horse Heritage Troop was an extra curricular activity of the 8/13th VMR. Captain (later Major) Robert Morrison, a keen horseman, was the prime mover in raising the troop. The original Victoria Theatre opened on 16 February 1856 with a season by Lola Montez. Upon its return in April 1945, the Regiment was redesignated 20th Pioneer Battalion.
