Built as a toy, either by a well resourced home workshop or by a toy maker. Have been well used or loved with missing wheels and damaged roof. Possibly dates from the early 1900s. St Kilda was a popular destination for Melbourne cable trams. Demonstrates a toy cable tram set.Cable tram set made from wood and pressed metal. Grip car or dummy has remnants of paint (green and gold) on the sides, holes for wheels on the two wood blocks on the underside. Has an eye hook at one end and a hole for another at the other end. Seat made from timber with a steel wire or rod to represent a grip lever. Metal secured to wood base with nails. Has four metal Staunchions on either side. Trailer similar construction with sides stamped or cut from sheet steel with holes at either end for a eye or hook and wheels. Roof on both items has been pressed and assembled. The State Electricity Commission of Victoria 1921 to 1993 was responsible for electricity generation in Victoria and the operation of three Provincial Tramways. It had a strong safety focus for the time. This first-aid box would have been provided to work places containing first aid equipment and materials. It has been made with interior slots or dividers to hold items. Demonstrates an SECV First Aid Box.First aid box made from sheet metal, with hinged lid, press locking clamp on the front, with a divided interior or fitting to hold items, painted white on the inside and black on the outside. Has the SEC logo, marked "First Aide" in red letters on a white background and numbered "2787" on the front side.Has SEC logo and number 2787. Ticket punch - pressed steel with ticket guide, steel rivet for pivot, circular finger clip, spring steel wire - punch has a shaped hole. Has number 2509 stamped in near rivet and Maun Industries England on the reverse side. Metal pea whistle, steel, nickel plated with a spring steel ring. Whistle component made from two stamped and folded pieces of steel plate with a "pea" inside. Spring steel ring held to the whistle with a pressed steel piece. Whole whistle appears to be silver soldered. On the top of the whistle, stamped into the flat plate is the words "The Acme Thunderer" and on the bottom "Made in England". Known by manufacturer as "Small whistle with tapered mouthpiece, produces high pitch". Made by J. Hudson and Co. (Whistles) Ltd. of Birmingham United Kingdom. The following items are associated with the display of Horse Tram No. 1 at the Ballarat Engine and Machinery Preservation Society Rally at the Ballarat Showgrounds on Feb. 28 and Mar. 1, 1998. 807.1 - A4 sheet of paper, printed by BTM on 27/2/1998, advising the horse tram was on display at the showgrounds - used at the depot. 807.2 - A4 sheets of card, printed by BTM on 27/2/1998, advising people to take care when climbing the stairs, and please do not enter signs on reverse, tours on the hours and where queries could be made. Printed by laser printer on yellow card and contained within a plastic display folder. 807.3 - Three copies of the Rally brochure or flier, advertising the Rally at the Showgrounds. Printed mid 1997, on orange paper, phone numbers etc. 807.4 - A4 exhibit sheet for use on the Horse tram at the exhibition. Set of 8 black and white photographs of the SEC Ballarat track welding truck, Reg. No. 119 341. Truck is a British Bedford truck, model WHG, built by GMH Melbourne between 1932 and 1934. Has a fabric roof, chassis fitted with a tray top body, side tool box, metal frame and covered with canvas, fitted out with a motor generator set, welding equipment and oxy acetylene bottles. Has a strong association with John Prisk, ESCo tram driver of the 1910's and demonstrates the importance of being a union member at the time and the badge provided by the unionAustralian Tramway Employees Association (Tramways Union) badge. Badge made on a brass or metal backing with a gold (9ct) plating with words "Australian Tramway Employees Association" on outer edge of badge with a royal blue enamel background. In centre of badge has the Australian coat of arms with a railway type spoke wheel above the logo and underneath the coat of arms the words "Federated Australia" in a banner. Has a steel ring through a hole in the top of the badge. On back of badge has stamped into the badge "John Prisk / Member / Since 1912".
