Demonstrates the method of dispensing tickets by conductors, how the tickets could be arranged, during the last period of Ballarat Tramways - 1971 fare system. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented. Ticket wallet with a set of eight 1970's Ballarat tram tickets set up to represent a typical conductor's set of tickets. .1 - Sheet of leather, approx. 2mm thick, stained brown with four pockets formed on each side with another sheet of leather, stitched on all sides to form pockets to hold eight blocks of tickets. Functional Object - Metal Box, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), First aid box, 1970
A first aid box, rectangular shaped metal box 180mmHx265mmWx215mm D, painted black, hinged lid with 2 hinges, metal carrying handle on top, and metal locking clasp on the front. Has a white sticker with first aid written in red on the lid, and a gold SECV transfer. On the front of the box, below the locking clasp are the numbers "2787" in a gold transfer. Inside of box is gloss white, there are four metal brackets to hold some kind of partition. In the lid a four brackets to hold some kind of implement, and four corner brackets (similar to photo mounts) to hold something. Demonstrates how the SEC used painted signs to advise passengers about fare payment arrangements.Folded metal and painted "Pay as you Enter" sign used on Ballarat single truckers until 1971. Black lettering on a yellow front with a Yellow back. Sign has been manufactured to fit the timber holders that were provided on each side of each door. Demonstrates how the SEC used enamel signs to convey instructions to passengers or to confirm the advice of the conductor and how enamel signs were made. Enamel sign, black capital letters and lines on white background, titled "Passengers Must Not Obstruct the Entrances". Sign has a black enamel backing, with marks from the enamelling process. Black and White print contained within the Wal Jack Bendigo and Geelong Album, see Reg Item 5003 for more details. Photo of the Charing Cross with three bogie trams at the intersection, SEC publicity photo c1950. Two of the bogies crossing on the Eaglehawk - Quarry Hill line have white or cream strips on the lower edge of the body. No 26 has the destination of North Bendigo, though it is on Golden Square line with the driver standing just inside the doorway. In the background is the fountain, the Gardens and Pall Mall.
