Both trams have been fitted with dash canopy lighting but not extended white strip under driver's windows. No. 26 has "Gardens via Sturt St. West" destination. Both are fitted with Briquettes roof ads. Robbie Burns statue in background. Dated Nov. 1964. Inscriptions on the back of the photo state W. Dunn is standing beside the bullock team but records imply that its Jack Williams with his bullock team. Stan Wathem is holding the bike and standing beside the wagon. Wattle bark was used at Wenl's Bark Mills Stawell. The photograph belongs to Mrs. Dorrie Pickering - loaned for copying. Collection of thirty-nine postcards donated by Jillian Rigby which had been owned by her grandparents, George and Edith Weir, who from c.1917 lived at 84 Princess Street, Kew. The mostly 'mint' postcards were purchased in Victoria and while travelling overseas. The sole dated postcard is dated from 1929. The postcards are numbered sequentially from 2017.0058.01-39. The remainder of the collection donated by Jill Rigby which was once owned by the Weirs of Broken Hill and Kew consist of costumes, costume accessories, photographs, and documents.The postcards in the Weir collection, especially those purchased on a trip or trips to the mother country, i.e. United Kingdom, represent a representative sample of sites that were considered significant to those Australians undertaking a reverse grand tour by member of the erstwhile colonies. The drinking fountain is located in Catani Gardens, St Kilda. It was a gift to the City of St Kilda by Sali Cleve, a prominent local resident. St Kilda Library was designed in 1971 by Enrico Taglietti (1926-2019). It was to be constructed in two stages. Stage 1 was completed in 1973. Stage 2 as designed by Taglietti did not proceed. Instead, alterations were designed in 1992-93 by Ashton Raggatt McDougall Architects (ARM). In 1993-94, the floor area of the library was enlarged to include a new entry and disabled ramp and a pedestrian thoroughfare between Carlisle and Duke streets. Frank Wright was a renown resident of Smeaton, where he was born on 2 August 1901. He lived at Laura Villa, and attended Smeaton State School. His father William was a gold miner and his mother's name was Sarah. Their family won many singing and instrumental awards. Frank was tutored by Percy Code and was awarded a gold medal for the highest marks in the ALCM examinations in the British Colonies at the age of seventeen years. He became the Australian Open Cornet Champion by the age of eighteen. A year later, Frank conducted the City of Ballarat Band, and later the Ballarat Soldiers’ Memorial Band. He formed the Frank Wright Frisco Band and Frank Wright and his Coliseum Orchestra. These bands won many South Street awards, and Frank as conductor won many awards in the Australian Band Championship contest. In 1933 Frank Wright sailed to England to conduct the famous St Hilda’s Band and was later appointed Musical Director of the London County Council, where he organized many amazing concerts in parks, in and around the London district. He was made Professor of Brass and Military Band Scoring and conducted at the Guildhall of Music and Drama. Frank was often invited to adjudicate Brass Band Championships around Europe, in Australia, including South Street and in New Zealand. The Frank Wright Medal at the Royal South Street competition is awarded to an individual recognized as making an outstanding contribution to brass music in Australia.Black and white photograph of the rear/side view of a group of men dressed in band uniform, sitting on chairs on a platform raised on 44 gallon drums. These books are all old and belonged to local families in the Kiewa Valley. Reading was a major form of entertainment from the 1930s before TV was available.These books give an insight into the interests of families in the Kiewa Valley prior to the invention of TV.Case - Stiff cardboard, yellow & green with two yellow strips on outside. Inside blue squares. Metal handle attached. Fastened by two sliding locks one at each end and each with a key hole. There is a clip/clasp in the front centre.
