Organisations that Dorothy Anderson belonged to included many items to represent their clubs eg. badges, spoons, activities eg. crocheting. Dorothy lived in Tawonga indicating that those clubs existed in the town/area and were typical of regional areas of the time. These items were the property of Tawonga Citizen, Mrs Dorothy Anderson, who passed away in 2014, aged 90 years. She belonged to local clubs which existed in the area and acquired memorabilia belonging to those clubs and activities thus giving an insight into the life of women in regional towns. A personal collection of memorabilia stored in a black and cream solid but torn carry case with handle and broken clasp. Items include spoons, trophies, serviette rings name tags, member bar, pins, tea towel brooches, embroidered and crotchet items dance card pocket, birthday card, photos, pocket watch, bell, medals. A medallion presented to Private A. C. Hill by the citizens of Frankston, Victoria. These medallions were presented to local men who enlisted for service as they departed to World War 1 by the "Citizens and Patriotic Committee". The medallion has a gold finish and has an olive wreath around the circumference. A small loop is provided to attach the medallion to a chain or similar. In this case the medallion is attached to a fob watch chain commonly worn by men when dressed in a jacket. (refer item 00325).One side of the medallion is inscribed: "A. Hill" "From the citizens of Frankston" and the other is inscribed "A. I. F."

This ensemble was not owned by Lady Barbara Grimwade unlike the rest of the garments in this collection. It was donated to the Gallery by Mrs Jessie Briggs after she became aware of the Gallery’s extensive Tu collection. Mrs Briggs (Krongold) wore this ensemble to the marriage of her son, Lionel Krongold, at the Kew Synagogue, Melbourne. To compliment this outfit, Mrs Briggs wore gold shoes and a small Italian gold bag with the gown, a pair of diamond drop earrings, gold chain with diamonds, a gold bracelet with four diamonds and a simple Omega gold watch.

All of these photographs were taken prior to 25th November, 1876, the official opening and crossing of the current Snowy River Bridge. Gary Downey, an Orbost Apeian, did a "De Groot" and crossed the bridge on horseback prior to the official cars crossing the bridge to signal the opening of the new structure. There was a closing ceremony for the old bridge with a group arriving in a 1927 Chrysler, owned by Apexian, Peter Dreverman. This was watched by groups of school students. Some of the Apex members, including Jim Duggan, Noel Smart and Pat Hall, dressed in formal attire to speak to the audience.This event was organised by the Apex Club of Orbost.The Apex Club of Orbost was a volunteer service club which contributed to the Orbost community. Melbourne Legacy would hold Christmas parties for junior Legatees at Government House for many years due to the Governor of Victoria being patron of Legacy. The children are wearing Legacy tags. The year is 1963. One of the photos appeared in a newspaper article about Legacy in 1965 (see item 01237). A programme for a showing of film footage of Queen Elizabeth's coronation a couple of weeks after the coronation. In the 1950s few households had televisions so although the Coronation was broadcast, many people may not have had the opportunity to watch it live. A screening at South Melbourne Town Hall on 23rd June 1953 was for Junior Legatees. Approximately 1,200 children attended with their mothers (from 'History of Legacy 1953' at 01491). The Governor Sir Dallas Brookes was unable to attend due to illness and his wife, Lady Brookes spoke and read a message from him.Junior Legatees pledged allegiance to the Queen at rallies and classes, so they would have been excited to see the Coronation screened.White paper programme with a colour photo of the Queen and black type, folded in half.coronation, gala performance
