The 34th Infantry Brigade was raised in Moratai and consisted of three Infantry Battalions. Namely the 65th / 66th /and 67th Battalions. On the 23rd November 1948 they became the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions. The Royal Australian Regiment became the key component of the new Australian Regular Army. The 34th Battalion 1RAR/ 2 RAR and 3 RAR saw service in WW11 in Korea and Vietnam.Gilded brass hat badge showing a round wattle wreath with "St Edwards" crown over a kangaroo and 2 crossed .303 rifles.Kangaroo and wattle are distinctly Australian - from the TAC signs of the parent units. Crossed rifles represents the infantry nature of the Regiment.

Comet was a WW11 British tank. Publication possibly issued to CMF Units in anticipation of receiving Comet tanks in early post war period. Petrol rationing was gazetted in May 1941. Australia's lack of fuel storage options and the diversion of tankers bringing fuel here forced the government to begin rationing. Initially it was proposed that consumption should be reduced by 50% but this was modified to 1/3 reduction. People had to apply for a petrol licence and this was then used to obtain ration coupons. Initially coupons were issued on a 6 monthly basis but this was reduced to 2 monthly and allowed people roughly 2000 gallons per year. Coupons allowed for 1, 2, 5, 10, 44 and 100 gallon amounts depending on need. eg. private, commercial, farm use. Rationing was strictly enforced until 1942 but remained in effect until 1950.WWII One Gallon Fuel Ration Ticket: beige card with blue flicks, perforated edges and red print. 4 x One Gallon ration tickets attached. At the Pretty Valley Dam site erection of staff quarters was completed in April, 1947 and accommodation for workmen commenced in 1948 but suspended on 11th May for winter and resumed on 9th November. Construction of this camp was completed in 1949. A large dam was proposed at this site but was never constructed. Lottie Bulmer (wife of Mr Frank Bulmer, Orbost) originally owned the massager. It was given to Di Cunningham by her sister Barbara who married Les Bulmer, Lottie and Frank's son,. After Les died, Barbara gave it to Di Cunningham, her sister, Di kept it for about a year. Pifco manufactured personal massaging equipment between 1948 and about 1968 (the first appeared about 1935).These devices were promoted as being able deal with all kinds of complaints, from headaches, pain relief and flatulence to hair loss and gout. It is an example of an early electrical appliance.3081.1 is an orange and white cardboard box - in black print on top is "PIFCO Electric Massager". It is the original container.
