Electronic or battery clock mounted in a former Melbourne cable tram era wood block, cut from an former Melbourne tramway paving red gum block with one of the faces polished up The clock is inset into the wooden block, plastic, Perspex front. The clock made by "SHONTEK" Small N size battery - battery has been removed from the item. The block has a label on the underside - "Hand crafted in Australia by William Carroll", Arraign, Victoria, Phone 03 5622 3644. The Gift box or tin, with lid, has the words "Celebrating our first year together", with the Keolis Downer EDI Rail logo and Yarra Trams logo. The box contains a silver coloured metal torch, with LED bulbs fitted with a cotton hand strap. Three AAA size batteries by Ninghai Hengjui Battery Co. contained within the dark grey foam holder. Sarah Coventry Pty. Ltd. was a North American jewellery company that was established in 1949 by the Stuart family as part of Emmons Jewelry, Inc. It began operations in England and Australia in 1968, and in Australia it moved from Carlton in Melbourne to Wodonga in 1969. The premises were originally on High St. in Wodonga, but a new warehouse was built in Melbourne Rd later in 1969. It was a direct selling jewellery business using a party-plan model similar to Tupperware and Avon. The sales reps or 'Hostesses' were provided with jewellery samples in demonstration kits, which they displayed at jewellery parties in their homes. The designs for jewellery such as brooches, necklaces, earrings, chokers and bracelets were purchased from freelance designers and jewellery manufacturers rather than in-house designers. In 1979 Sarah Coventry Pty. Ltd. in Wodonga was bought by three Australian businessmen, including Wodonga local Jim Sawyer, and continued to sell jewellery under the name "Sargem Pty. Ltd”, for several more years in the 1980s. This item was part of the Affinity Jewellery line released in 1982.As part of the Sarah Coventry collection, this item has local significance with the decentralised commercial development of regional centres such as Wodonga in NE Victoria, as well as national and international significance from the perspective of social and economic developments for women after World War II. The direct selling party-plan business model Sarah Coventry was based on is also considered the first of its kind for jewellery.A silver plated stick pin featuring a heart at each end. Belleek was established following the Irish famine of the mid nineteenth century that brought so many Australian families, including the Taffe and Berkery families to immigrate to the Australian colonies. This Belleek porcelain tea set and tray in the Thorn pattern based on the hawthorn bush sprig in flower carries the impressed registration mark for 1878. Belleek was well represented at the Melbourne International Exhibition of 1880-81 at Melbourne's Exhibition building and many examples were bought by key Ballarat Irish families including those connected to this family such as the Brophy, O'Malley and Fitzgerald families, Julia Taffe's (nee Berkery) aunts uncles and cousins. Many such examples remain in Ballarat collections although this is not one.Tea set consisting of a tray with teapot, creamer, sugar bowl two saucers and one remaining cup from the original pair. The family would have used this cutlery on a daily basis as it is not the 'best' cutlery used for special occasions. Assorted very worn kitchen cutlery for every day use by the family. Most of it has a wide end at the handle with a small scalloped pattern: Forks, one large and one small, seven very rusted knives with bone handles, spoons, two larger serving, six dessert, ten teaspoons, two very small round sugar spoons, one patterned butter knife and two decorative servers.Various makers which are indecipherable. The decorative assembly from the top of the wedding cake of Archibald Burke and Eleanor McKew of St Arnaud, married in 1902. Typical of the period, the elaborate construction of floral and symbolic objects with partial shield originally carrying Australian Coat of Arms and Advance Australia. Much of the wax and icing items have disintegrated over the years but some such as the clasped hands, shoe, rising sun and paper floral motifs remain. This chamber pot came from the local Parker family. We take indoor flushing toilets pretty much for granted, but in the 18th century the chamber pot was the solution to answering a call of nature for most poorer households. Wealthier people also had chamber pots made from either earthenware or pewter. Prosperous travellers took their pot with them on journeys - public toilets did not exist. Some pots had lids. Bridgwood & Son were established in Lane End around 1795. Sampson Bridgwood took over the Anchor Pottery at the corner of Wharf Street (renamed Bridgwood Street in the 1950s) and Goddard Street in Longton in 1853.A white porcelain chamber pot decorated on two sides with large double pink roses and a blue floral leafed pattern. It has a fluted self pattern around the lower half of the pot, a gold line trim near the top and a decorative fluted handle. Peter Morley was elected to Council in 1987 and served as Mayor from 1989 - 1990. He was a supporter of restoration of the Town Hall and its use for council meetings as well as the Capital Theatre Project.
