The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles was raised as a regiment of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps on 1 May 1948 with Headquarters in Melbourne and squadrons in Sale, Benalla/Wangaratta and Albury. In 1955 Regimental Headquarters moved to Wangaratta and a second squadron was located at Albury. The Sale squadron transferred to 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse. The company Liesegang was founded in 1854 and until 2004 as Ed. Liesegang oHG in Dusseldorf, and was a specialist German manufacturer of projection technology .Slide projector in wooden case with slide holder attached to the inner wall of the box. The box has a sliding lid. The slider is marked with the name of the object and the manufacturer: Blenschieber 5 x 5 / Ed. Liesegang, Dusseldorf. Colour transparency (slide) created in June 1976 during a tour by the Junior National Trust, which was led by members of Kew Historical Society. The collection of 21 slides reveals that the tour covered all parts of Kew, but focused understandably on heritage buildings and sites.Image of an historic place in Kew that can be dated to an exact time and place. The images, albeit amateurish in composition, frequently reveal aspects of important buildings and sites that have changed over time.35mm colour transparency of Raheen in Studley Park Road, Kew in 1976. The building of the house commenced in 1870, while major additions were made in 1884. The view is of the fence and tower. Presumably the photograph was taken from Studley Park Road. The property was still during this period the palace of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne. In 1988, as part of a Defence of Mainland Australian policy, defence of facilities of strategic importance in northern Australia were allocated to Army Reserve units. ‘A’ Squadron was allocated the defence of Tindal Air Force base located 15 KM outside Katherine in Northern Territory. Consequently the Squadron deployed on Exercise ‘Northern Explorer’ to gain first-hand knowledge of operating conditions for mounted and dismounted patrolling in the area.Colour photograph of Lance Corporal R. There was a Moran and Cato store in Surrey Hills.This biography tells the story of Fred Cato the businessman, who co-founded the Moran and Cato grocery chain. He was an influential Methodist layman, whose major involvements spanned more than forty years, from the Lonsdale Street Central Mission in 1893 to the Aboriginal Methodist Mission at Yirrkala in 1935.
