There are two copies of the Discover Caulfield guide produced by the Caulfield Historical Society. One from 1982 which contains twelve pages, seven of which are typed and the last five a continuation of the guide added later, hand-written. The other is a modern typed version of the same document, including information at the end that "Notes prepared by R. Ballantyne, 25th July, 1982, updated by Betty Snowball, 1992 and Gladys Vallati 4th August, 1995". The two newspaper cuttings from the Geelong Advertiser, Oct. 1953, regarding the TRB inquiry, overloading of buses on the northern routes, and reports on the proceedings. A handwritten note gives the timing of the TRB hearings. The article contains details of the opening of the Gardenvale Martin Street subway ceremony. Mention is made of the Caulfield Council’s spontaneous assistance, harmony working alongside Brighton and their financial assistance, as well. Councillor E.F. England (Mayor of Caulfield) attended on behalf of the Caulfield Council. He referred to the large patronage on the Brighton line, also mentioning similar issues for the Elsternwick level crossing. There are brief summaries from the many speakers. A small pocket book used as a diary by Australian Army World War 2 serviceman Private George Edward (Red) Miller, service number VX3693 of the 5th Battalion, 2nd Australian Imperial Force. The diary contains notes relating to Miller's service with the Australian Army in Palestine, Egypt, Libya and Greece. The pocket book has a folding cover and is covered in a buff coloured linen. This was a school book of Edith Pickford who attended the Higher Elementary School at Clunes, Victoria.This green cloth-covered, hard backed book has the title, publisher and an art deco design printed in gold on the spine. A leather look design is impressed into the front and back covers.
