During the 1950's, Mt Beauty's population was rapidly increasing due to the post war baby boom and because there was a young workforce moving into the area due to the opportunity available for work on the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. Maternal Infant Welfare Centre Sisters conducted regular check-ups on babies to ensure they were feeding well, gaining weight and reaching appropriate milestones for their age.Infants and young children in the Kiewa Valley area continue to be monitored by the Maternal Health Nurses to ensure their healthy development. It is situated overlooking Lady Bay in Warrnambool and is designed to represent the town of Warrnambool in around the 1870-80’s As well as paid staff on site it enjoys a large volunteer group who do various tasks around the village from tours to maintenance and recording of information. This badge recognises the contribution of one such volunteer. This bottle held "Peck's Fish Paste', The company, Harry Peck & Co., was founded in 1891 and soon began making potted meats and fish pastes in their factory in South London. Peck's Paste arrived in Australia in 1904. Peck's have been in Australia for over 110 years and manufacture food pastes. The principal product is a fish paste called Anchovette. This nurses veil is preventative of what was part of nurses uniforms in the mid 1900's. Tawonga and district hospital was the only hospital in the Upper Kiewa Valley and was then moved to Mt Beauty to cater for the increased population due to the Kiewa Hydro Scheme. Many of the hospital equipment KVHS has in its collection is from the time when the hospital was moved to Mt Beauty. This veil could also be from this period.This has historic significance due to being representative of what nurses wore in the Tawonga and district hospital during the mid 1900's. As KVHS has many hospital instruments in its collection from the towns hospital the veil has good interpretive capacity and is in a good condition to be placed on display. The illustrations in this book are attributed to EULALIE. Eulalie ( Eulalie M. (Eulalie Minfred Banks), 1895-1999) was born in London and illustrated more than 50 children's books as well as cards, calendars and even murals. She died at 104 and was still painting into her 90's. This book is a children's story book and has been well used. It seems to be aimed at very young children.This book is a typical example a child's story book of the 1940's.A children's story book with large colourful illustrations. Erected in 1888 by Robert Milburn and family, the coffee palace on the corner of Mollison and Mitchell Streets was opposite the entrance to the railway station and as such provided ready access for travellers. Built at a cost of L4000, it consisted of 40 rooms that provided retail outlets and a ballroom on the ground floor and accommodation on the upper level. In 1945 it was converted to provided hostel accommodation for 43 student teachers. Metal sign (one of two- the other is missing) that previously hung on one side of the main entrance door at Dalgety Wool Store on Gheringhap St (now Deakin University waterfront campus). Sign was polished daily by Percy Johnson, a janitor at the building in the 1960's. Donor worked at the building as a clerk between 1958 - 1982. Sign was found by a metal collector by the side of the road c.2018. Metal sign with pressed text. Possibly brass. May have originally been gold colour but now a dull brown. Fourteen Miniature Models of Nurses from Primitive Era to 1980's. They were Dean Nancy Long's idea and she had them made. They were used for "Careers" information when visiting High Schools. In 1972 when the uniforms changed from traditional to more modern trend they created interest for prospective trainee nurses. Each has a frame and a name tag in Roman script Collection of fourteen miniature Dolls. Owen was a postman and also ran a taxi service.He died in the second World War and is remembered in the memorial window at Christ Church, Mitcham. Present owners (1998) are Anna and Gorden Seward. The previous owners were the Rev and Mrs Barnsley, a retired Church of England vicar. This heavy seal press would have been used to emboss impressions of the Shire of Bulla seal onto documents. This seal impressed "The President Councillors and Citizens of The Shire of Bulla" plus a central emboss and would have been used sometime between 1866-1989. Various Councils within Victoria amalgamated in the early 1990's.
